The Lab Instructor will report to the <strong>Director of Health Sciences</strong> (or designee) and collaborate closely with the <strong>Nursing and Health Sciences faculty</strong> to ensure effective student learning outcomes. Flexibility, professionalism, and engagement are key.</p><p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><p><strong>Supervisor Responsibilities:&nbsp;</strong>None</p><p><strong>&nbsp;</strong><strong>Essential Job Functions</strong></p><p>Essential duties include, but are not limited to:</p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Facilitate <strong>hands-on laboratory sessions</strong> for Anatomy &amp; Physiology I and II courses, emphasizing safety, technique, and applied understanding of human body systems.</li><li>Prepare laboratory materials, demonstrations, and instructional aids that enhance student learning.</li><li>Oversee and maintain <strong>laboratory equipment, models, and specimens</strong>, ensuring a safe and organized learning environment.</li><li>Provide <strong>instructional support</strong> in both lecture-related and independent lab exercises.</li><li>Evaluate and grade laboratory assignments, reports, and assessments in accordance with established rubrics and academic standards.</li><li>Initiate, facilitate, and moderate laboratory discussions and student inquiry.</li><li>Maintain accurate attendance and performance records in compliance with College policies.</li><li>Collaborate with the program director and faculty to plan, revise, and improve lab content and instructional methods.</li><li>Assist students individually or in small groups to reinforce understanding of complex physiological and anatomical concepts.</li><li>Ensure all activities comply with <strong>college safety, ethical, and academic integrity policies.</strong></li></ul><p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><p><strong>Required Skills / Abilities</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Ability to <strong>engage students through active, experiential learning.</strong></li><li>Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.</li><li>Strong organizational and time-management abilities.</li><li>Ability to work <strong>independently</strong> and collaboratively in a team environment.</li><li>Technological proficiency, including familiarity with <strong>Canvas, Microsoft Office 365, and Zoom.</strong></li><li>Ability to <strong>adapt to different instructional modalities</strong> and troubleshoot technical issues.</li><li>Knowledge of <strong>laboratory safety standards</strong>, including handling biological models and chemicals safely.</li></ul><p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li><strong>Master&rsquo;s degree</strong> in Biology, Anatomy &amp; Physiology, or a closely related field strongly preferred.</li><li><strong>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree&nbsp;</strong>in Biology, Anatomy &amp; Physiology, or a closely related field required.</li><li>Prior <strong>college-level teaching experience</strong> (lecture or lab) strongly preferred.</li><li>Experience with <strong>nursing, allied health, or pre-medical students</strong> highly desirable.</li><li>Knowledge of pedagogical best practices and evidence-based teaching strategies in the sciences.</li></ul><p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><p><strong>Physical Requirements</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Ability to stand for extended periods during lab instruction.</li><li>Ability to lift up to 25 pounds of lab materials or equipment.</li><li>Prolonged periods of walking, bending, or moving within lab spaces.</li><li>Use of protective equipment such as gloves, goggles, and lab coats as appropriate.</li></ul><p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><p><em><span style=\"font-size: 11px;\">Pennsylvania Institute of Technology shall, in its discretion, modify or adjust the position to meet the school&rsquo;s changing needs.
