    "description": "<p>The We’koqma’q Mi’kmaw School is accepting applications for four (4) <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Student Program </span><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Assistant</span> positions.<br><br><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Location:</span> We'koqma'q Mi’kmaw School<br><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Job type:</span> Full time - Term<br><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Start Date:</span> September 2, 2025<br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Salary Range:</span> in line with the Student Program Assistant Scale for the School</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>The <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Student Placement Assistant</span> will play a vital role in the classroom working to support students individually or small groups of students with special needs.<br></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; font-weight: bold\">DUTIES AND REPSONSIBILITES</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist students with physical &amp; mobility challenges as specified in their program plan;</li>\n<li>Assist students with routines, transitions and planned programming;</li>\n<li>Assist students with integration into the classroom and school setting;</li>\n<li>Help students individually or in small groups with learning tasks or behavior goals under the supervision of the classroom teacher;</li>\n<li>Monitor and report student progress to classroom teacher;</li>\n<li>Accompany and supervise students during activities;</li>\n<li>Assist with personal care such as, toileting and personal hygiene;</li>\n<li>Assist with program support as directed &amp; monitored by the teacher;</li>\n<li>Assist with safety and behavior management under the direction of the program planning team;</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"color: #2d2d2d\">REQUIREMENTS, </span></span><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">QUALIFICATIONS, &amp;</span><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"> CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT</span></span><br></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent</li>\n<li>Teacher Assistant or Early Childhood Education certificate an asset</li>\n<li>Experience working with children exhibiting challenging behaviors</li>\n<li>Fluency in Mi’kmaq strongly recommended</li>\n<li>Ability to support students with technology and academics</li>\n<li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills</li>\n<li>Ability to maintain confidentiality</li>\n<li>Ability to perform physical requirements of the position and provide personal care as required</li>\n<li>Possess basic computer skills</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Preference will be given to Indigenous people in accordance with the Aboriginal Employment Preferences Policy of the Canadian Human Rights Commission.<br></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Successful applicant will be will be required to provide satisfactory criminal record check with vulnerable sector and child abuse registry check prior to commencing employment.<br></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>While we appreciate all applications, only those candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.<br></p>",
