You will be handling a caseload of workers’ compensation matters, conduct depositions, and represent Liberty Mutual and its policyholders at WC hearings. If you’re looking for a place to build a long-term career while making a positive difference, consider joining our legal team where you’ll represent Liberty Mutual and our policyholders. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li><strong>Litigation Execution:</strong> Manage all phases of litigation, including discovery, hearings, trials, mediations, and drafting legal documents such as pleadings and motions. Support Senior Trial Counsel and Senior Litigation Counsel in all aspects of case handling through trial, including preparation, management, and assistance at every stage of the litigation process. Appearances before the Workers Compensation Board, conducting depositions, drafting, and filing summations, appeals and rebuttals.</li>\n <li><strong>Client Advisory and Relationship Management:</strong> Provide clear and reasoned legal opinions and strategic advice to Claims Representatives and insured clients. Develop and maintain strong client relationships through transparent and effective communication.</li>\n <li><strong>Technology Utilization</strong>: Utilize e-discovery and case management technologies to streamline legal processes, improve efficiency, and reduce operational costs. Demonstrate effective coordination with remote team members and proficiency in remote work settings.</li>\n <li><strong>Risk Evaluation and Case Resolution Facilitation: </strong>Identify, evaluate, and collaborate on strategies to mitigate legal risks, working closely with clients and senior counsel to facilitate effective resolutions.</li>\n <li><strong>Documentation Accuracy and Compliance</strong>: Ensure all legal documents, pleadings, and motions are meticulously prepared, accurate, and compliant with applicable standards and client expectations.</li>\n <li><strong>Timely Client Communication</strong>: Provide clear, consistent, and timely updates and recommendations to insured clients and claims professionals to maintain alignment with case objectives.</li>\n <li><strong>Contribution to Organizational Improvement:</strong> Participate in initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency, effectiveness, and best practices within Staff Legal and Global Legal & Compliance organizations.</li>\n <li><strong>Ethical Compliance Adherence:</strong> Uphold the highest standards of legal ethics and compliance, following legal regulations and licensing requirements and promoting a culture of integrity within the legal team.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p>Experience:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Membership in the <strong>California</strong> State Bar</li>\n <li>Appropriate special licenses to practice before boards or federal courts preferred</li>\n <li>A minimum of <strong>one</strong> years’ experience as an attorney; Workers’ Compensation experience strongly preferred</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Skills:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Talent for cultivating strong working relationships with internal and external partners</li>\n <li>Aptitude for detailed, analytical thinking</li>\n <li>Process-oriented mindset, with proven ability to meet deadlines and stay organized</li>\n <li>Excellent oral and written communication skills</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Knowledge:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Familiarity with the latest developments in the practice of law, as well as pertinent knowledge in related fields</li>\n <li>Familiarity with insurance law a plus</li>\n <li>Proficiency with technologies that reduce costs and facilitate the practice of law and remote work</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Education:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>A JD degree</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>About Us</h2>\n<p><strong>Pay Philosophy:</strong> The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location.
