NOTE: This is a part-time, seasonal (late May - late September) position, requiring staff to tent outdoors and commit to 4 consecutive weeks of work, at a minimum. Seasonal staff members represent Omega as excellent stewards of professional and compassionate service. Each interaction with workshop participants, faculty and fellow staff members, creates the Omega experience. Job Description Part Time Staff: non-exempt, part-time; on average 21-28 hours per week. Reports to Assistant Director of People & Culture, and department Supervisors where work hours are assigned. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Work hours may be performed in multiple departments (i.e., Dining Hall, Housekeeping, Dishwashing, Campus Support, Production, Garden, Main Office, etc.) Part Time Staff must possess a willingness to ease in and out of various departments, as operational and staffing needs dictate. Ability to follow directions and be adaptive to different management styles, team dynamics, independent work, and scheduling. Attendance at staff meetings, when applicable. Reporting to assigned shifts on time. Performing the required amount of work hours each week, 21 (minimum) to 28 (maximum). Keeping track of assigned work days/hours. Wear the required attire for work (i.e., Omega provided staff shirt, slip-proof shoes, closed toe shoes, rain gear, warm layers, etc.) Other duties as required by the supervisor. Work Details This position functions on the Omega campus. This is a part-time position, 21-28 hours a week, depending on operational need. The day-to-day schedule varies, work on transition days (Friday and Sunday) frequently required. Split shifts may be assigned. Part Time Seasonal Staff live in tenting areas on Omega's campus. The individuals are assigned a platform that is tarped to provide rain coverage. Staff bring their own tent (no larger than 10x10). Physical Requirements Ability to occasionally work in outdoor weather conditions Ability to frequently move items that weigh 30-50 pounds for various needs. Ability to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Ability to traverse a hilly campus in diverse weather conditions. Ability to position self to perform diverse job tasks as necessary. Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Ability to work in a constant sate of alertness and safe manner. Ability to observe details at close range. Ability to operate a motor vehicle. Required Experience/Qualities Timely, reliable, and service oriented individual. Excellent interpersonal skills. Team Player. Able to receive direction and self-motivate. Valid Driver’s License. Compensation Part Time seasonal staff work between mid-May through late-September and receive a compensation package that includes: Wage Three delicious meals per day in our mostly vegetarian Dining Hall Access to Omega’s staff benefits This compensation package is at minimum equivalent to the New York State minimum wage.
