    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<p><span><strong>CLASSIFICATION</strong>: &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; Support Staff</span></p><p><span><strong>DEPARTMENT</strong>:&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; Campus Police</span></p><p><span><strong>FLSA STATUS</strong>: &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; Non-exempt</span></p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><span><strong>SUPERVISION RECEIVED:&nbsp;</strong>Supervised by the Chief of Police, Sergeant, or Lieutenant</span></p><p><span><strong>SUPERVISION EXERCISED:</strong> N/A&nbsp;</span></p><p><span><strong>POSITION SUMMARY:&nbsp;</strong>The Police Officer is charged with the security of life, limb, property, and equipment with the institution and the enforcement of all institution rules, regulations, and State and Federal laws.</span></p><p><span><strong>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong></span></p><ul><li><span>Enforce the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the rules and regulations of Moravian College.</span></li><li><span>Provides armed patrol of the campus by vehicle and on foot.</span></li><li><span>Investigate reports of criminal activity.</span></li><li><span>Documents any police interactions and prepares reports in the department’s record management system.</span></li><li><span>Provide for the security of all campus buildings and property by assisting in the locking of buildings and reporting those circumstances that present any danger to college property, students, or employees.</span></li><li><span>Direct traffic and investigate motor vehicle accidents.</span></li><li><span>Provide a variety of services including but not limited to: medical transports, motorist assists, money escorts, lock/unlock requests, respond to fire safety device activations, accident and criminal investigations.</span></li><li><span>Conduct crime awareness programs along with Resident Advisors for the students.</span></li><li><span>Check for and report all suspicious activity, equipment malfunction, and other irregularities.</span></li><li><span>Provide for security at special events.</span></li><li><span>Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Chief of Police, Captain or Sergeant.</span></li></ul><p><span><strong>QUALIFICATIONS:</strong> The candidate must have a minimum of an Associates Degree or prior experience as a campus police officer or as a community-based police officer.&nbsp; Must have certification under PA Act 120. In addition, certification under PA Act 235 or the ability to become certified as required. Must maintain a valid or current PA operator’s license or operator’s license in the state in which they reside. The position demands excellent organizational skills as well as superior interpersonal skills (verbal and written), and an ability and desire to work closely with all constituencies of the College including students, staff and faculty, in addition to the general public.&nbsp; Must submit to a background check, and upon conditional appointment pass a medical examination, drug screen and psychological examination.&nbsp; Must be in excellent physical condition to respond to emergencies and handle criminal incidents in accordance with the rules of Campus Police.
