Description

The City of Lake Worth Beach invites qualified individuals to apply for the position of Traffic Maintenance Technician. This is a Full-Time, Non-Exempt position based on a 40-hour work week with an hourly pay rate TBD. This position is part of the Public Employees Union (PEU) collective bargaining agreement and the individual in this position will work out of the Public Services Building located at 1749 3 rd Avenue South, Lake Worth Beach, FL 33460. Pay Rate: $18.41-$23.39 In addition, this position offers: Vacation and Sick Leave Accruals 14 Paid Holidays City of Lake Worth Beach Medical Benefits that include Life Insurance, Dental, and Vision coverage. Retirement Plan SUMMARY: Semi-skilled in operations of routing traffic control maintenance and servicing of a variety of medium and light pieces of equipment used in the Traffic Division. This includes pavement, sidewalk, curb repair, signage and striping for the traffic division. • Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) setup, takedown, and maintenance • Maintenance, installation and removal of roadway signage • Maintenance, installation and removal of roadway striping • Roadway pavement and base repairs • Concrete sidewalk, driveway, and curbing construction and demolition • Alleyway grading and associated work • Miscellaneous roadway work as applicable ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Operates all types of equipment used in traffic control • Must be able to read, write and speak English. • Must be able to interpret written and oral instructions • Ability to perform with accuracy, tape measure and mathematical calculations when laying out stop bars, cross walls and ADA disabled parking spaces. • Must be able to work in various weather conditions. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE : High School Diploma or GED with six months experience in traffic maintenance related work is highly desired CERTIFICATIONS: Must possess valid Florida driver’s license with an acceptable driving record (CDL Class B recommended) Applicants for positions with the City of Lake Worth Beach should know and be aware of the following: Applicants for employment who become candidates for available employment positions should note employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of all reference checks and pre-employment physical satisfaction. Upon request, information on the nature and scope of an inquiry will be provided under FS 119. This position is considered “essential personnel” for hurricane preparedness and emergency management purposes. Furthermore, most of the job classifications within the City of Lake Worth workforce are covered by Collective Bargaining Agreements with the Public Employees Union (PEU), Professional Managers and Supervisors Association (PMSA), or International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). Consistent with Chapter 447 of the Florida Statutes, a bargaining unit employee has the right to join or not join the union. However, the Union is not obligated to represent a non-member.
