          "text": "<p><strong>Union:</strong> ONA&#xa0;<br>\n<strong>New or Replacement Position</strong>: Replacement<br>\n<strong>Site: </strong>Toronto General Hospital<br>\n<strong>Department: </strong>Medical Day Unit (MDU)&#xa0;<br>\n<strong>Reports to: </strong>Nurse&#xa0;Manager<br>\n<strong>Wage Range:&#xa0;</strong>$41.15 - $58.98 per hour (start rate is non-negotiable and in accordance with collective agreement requirements)<br>\n<strong>Hours:</strong>&#xa0;7.5&#xa0;Hours per Week<br>\n<strong>Status: </strong>Casual<br>\n<strong>Closing Date:</strong>&#xa0;June 18, 2026</p><p><strong>Position Summary</strong></p><p>The Medical Day Unit (MDU) assists outpatients with a wide variety of medical conditions.</p><p>The majority of patients require:</p><ul><li>Treatment for thalassemia/sickle cell anemia&#xa0;&#xa0;</li><li>Infusion therapy (i.e., medications &amp; blood transfusions)</li><li>Minor medical procedures (i.e., paracentesis, liver biopsy, muscle biopsy, therapeutic phlebotomy)</li><li>Wound dressing</li><li>Assisting physicians with procedures</li></ul><p><strong>Duties</strong></p><p>As a member of the UHN and the Nursing Multi-disciplinary Team, the Registered Nurse practices in accordance with relevant legislation/standards, meeting the legal and ethical requirements of the profession. The principal responsibilities include:</p><ul><li>Applying knowledge of nursing science, theory, skill and critical decision-making in the provision of compassionate, collaborative and competent care in accordance with the UHN Professional Practice Model for Nursing and the mission and vision of nursing at the UHN</li><li>Ensuring practice is consistent with professional standards and the ethical framework as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario and the UHN policy and procedure.</li></ul>",

          "text": "<ul><li>Completion of a university, college, or other approved nursing program</li><li>Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) program, Level II: Basic Rescuer certification</li><li>Current certificate of competency from the College of Nurses of Ontario</li><li>Physical Health Assessment Course</li><li>Completion of the ECG interpretation course is an asset</li><li>Two years each of recent Medical and Surgical Nursing</li><li>Experience with phlebotomy, IV insertion, insertion of and access to vascular access lines, and administration of blood products</li><li>Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and good judgement with the ability to multi-task</li><li>Ability to work as an integral member of a team</li><li>Excellent independent decision-making and problem-solving skills</li><li>Excellent organizational and time management skills</li><li>Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills</li><li>Patient teaching skills</li><li>Ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team</li><li>Ability to work under pressure</li><li>Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment to meet the needs of a changing population</li><li>Ability to utilize information technology</li><li>Ability to meet the physical demands of the job</li><li>B.Sc.N. preferred</li><li>PACU/OR experience preferred</li><li>Able to perform paracentesis (required)</li><li>Demonstrated ability to meet the physical demands of a fast-paced clinical environment, including participation in patient lifting, repositioning, and transfers as part of routine care delivery</li></ul>",
