If you’re searching for something more than just a job, something akin to a calling, then consider the challenge and opportunity of being a member of Johnson County Government! </p>\n<h2>Job Description</h2>\n<p>The Fleet Division within the Facilities Management Department is seeking a <strong>Fleet Mechanic</strong> to support the maintenance and repair of County vehicles and equipment. This position plays a key role in ensuring reliable operations and timely service across County departments. <strong>The position will remain open until filled. </strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Responsibilities Include: </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Inspects, diagnoses, repairs and documents repair procedures on autos and trucks, construction equipment, sanders, plows, chainsaws, trimmers, pumps, small engines, skid loaders, electronic sander controls, and conveyors; performs service calls county-wide on trucks and other equipment to return to service or transport back to the shop for additional repairs.</li>\n <li>Completes preventive maintenance and safety inspections on county vehicles and equipment to ensure trouble free and safe operation; inspects brakes, electrical, steering and mechanical systems; services all components at timely intervals such as engine, transmissions, differentials and hydraulic systems.</li>\n <li>Initiates work orders, tracks time spent on tasks or customer; completes paperwork, timesheets and equipment logs using computerized system.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Job Requirements</h2>\n<p><strong><u>Minimum Job Requirements:</u></strong></p>\n<p>High school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of related automotive, heavy truck, or construction equipment repair experience are required.  One (1) additional year of related experience may substitute for education.  Must pass a thorough criminal history screening and have a valid driver’s license (Class C CDL for employees in the Facilities Department) with an acceptable driving record.  </p>\n<p><strong><em>Johnson County Government requires reference/background screening for all positions.  Specified criteria may vary by Department/Agency.  </em></strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong><u>Preferred Job Requirements:</u></strong></p>\n<p>Vo-Tech or Associate’s degree in Automotive Fleet Management, Equipment Repair, Diesel Engines, or related field are preferred. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong><u>Education/Experience Substitutions:</u></strong></p>\n<p>Experience may be substituted for degree.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong><u>Physical, Environmental, and Special Working Conditions:</u></strong></p>\n<p>Excessive standing and/or walking: 60%</p>\n<p>Exposure to extreme temperatures, fumes and/or chemicals, heights, and loud noises.</p>\n<p>Lifting weight: 50lbs.</p>\n<p>On call/stand-by work required.</p>\n<p>Weather essential: Department Essential</p>\n<p>Uniform Required</p>\n<p>Travel required: 50% local and 5% outside Johnson County</p>\n<p>Wearing of goggles, rubber boots, rubber gloves and other PPE as required.</p>\n<p>Position is required to respond to requests for emergency and afterhours work which will require work when the facility is closed (e.g. holiday, weekends, nights).  This work will require overtime as needed.</p>\n<p>Physical abilities, including mobility, agility, strength, dexterity, balance, coordination, and /or endurance.</p>\n<p>All County employees may be called upon to assist other departments/agencies in a declared emergency situation.           </p>",
