Job Summary Job Title: Family Physician Work Site: Sheway, 533 East Hastings Street Vancouver, BC V6A 1P9 Status: Temporary with a possibility of becoming permanent Start Date: ASAP Compensation Type: Clinical Services Contract Come work as a Family Physician with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)! Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a 0.1FTE family physician for Sheway for a 6-month temporary contract with the possibility of becoming permanent. Sheway is located at 533 East Hastings and is an interdisciplinary outreach program for pregnant people who use substances and their children. It offers a variety of services including primary medical care for families, antenatal and postpartum care for pregnant individuals, nutrition support (including a daily hot lunch), counseling, social work support, infant development, housing support, and group classes. Reporting to the Medical Director, the physician who accepts this position will join the interdisciplinary team providing evidence-based, quality care for a marginalized population of pregnant and parenting people. They are responsible for providing direct clinical services to patients at Sheway and fostering a collaborative inter-professional practice environment that enhances client-centered services within the associated clinics/sites/programs. They will work within a self-directed team of physicians and inter- professional colleagues to achieve excellence in client-centered care within a complex multi-site environment. Please note this is not a Primary Care Network Opportunity. Qualifications Education, Licensing, & Experience : A Medical Degree and eligibility for licensure, in good standing, with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia. Current Canadian Medical Protection Association, or equivalent, coverage. Eligibility for a faculty appointment with the University of British Columbia, School of Medicine is required. Admitting privileges for intrapartum obstetrics (or intention to obtain) with BC Women’s Hospital (preferably) or another hospital. Associate privileges (or intention to obtain) with Vancouver Coastal Health Experience in and a commitment to caring for marginalized populations A demonstrated ability in working as a member of an inter-professional health care team A passion for providing maternity care A trauma informed approach to care A commitment to participate in new methods in health improvement and care delivery, including shared care An interest in clinical teaching Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC)- Full/Provisional Canadian College of Family Practitioners (CCFP)- Mandatory Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)- Mandatory Knowledge & Abilities: Health promotion and prevention strategies. Awareness of and sensitivity to patients from diverse ethnic backgrounds and/or with diverse cultural beliefs and practices. LGBTQ2S healthcare Trauma informed practice and culturally safe care for Indigenous peoples Familiarity with transgender care is an asset. Communicable diseases, including sexually transmitted infections, HIV, Hepatitis C A desire to serve complex clients. An interest in supporting chronic disease management models of service delivery.
