This role will be responsible for leading the implementation of the firm’s strategy for optimizing AI systems and workflows that support transaction practices, while developing and leading a team of legal engineers and knowledge engineers responsible for optimizing AI systems for transactional workflows, providing strategic direction, performance oversight, coaching, and professional development. This role will be located in either our New York, Boston, or Silicon Valley offices. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities & Qualifications</h2>\n<p>Other key responsibilities include:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Leading and developing a team of legal engineers and knowledge engineers responsible for optimizing AI systems for transactional workflows, providing strategic direction, performance oversight, coaching, and professional development </li>\n <li>Establishing and overseeing prompt engineering standards, workflow templates, and quality assurance protocols for AI-powered practice tools, ensuring consistent, high-quality outputs across document review, legal research, and brief drafting workflows</li>\n <li>Implementing the strategic vision for AI-enabled transactional workflows, fulfilling multi-year roadmaps for AI optimization initiatives aligned with firm strategy, practice group priorities, and attorney needs</li>\n <li>Overseeing translation of transactional practice requirements into AI workflow specifications, prompt libraries, and knowledge repositories, ensuring AI outputs align with attorney expectations and legal best practices</li>\n <li>Providing strategic input on AI workflow priorities, resource allocation, and optimization efforts, balancing practice group needs, technical feasibility, quality standards, and long-term strategic value</li>\n <li>Establishing and monitoring KPIs, quality metrics, and attorney satisfaction measures for AI-powered transactional workflows, using data-driven insights to guide optimization, iteration, and scaling decisions</li>\n <li>Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains </li>\n</ul>\n<p>We’d love to hear from you if you:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Demonstrate a deep expertise in AI systems and prompt engineering, with the ability to optimize large language model outputs for accuracy, consistency, and alignment with legal practice standards</li>\n <li>Display a strong understanding of transactional practice, including diligence, drafting, negotiation, and other common workflows, with the ability to translate practice requirements into AI workflow specifications</li>\n <li>Possess advanced knowledge engineering capabilities, including developing prompt libraries, workflow templates, knowledge repositories, and quality assurance frameworks for AI-powered practice tools</li>\n</ul>\n<p>And have:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>A minimum of eight (8) years’ of experience in legal technology, knowledge management, or legal practice, with demonstrated experience in AI systems or workflow optimization</li>\n <li>Previous management experience</li>\n <li>A bachelor’s degree or equivalent, in Law, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, preferably</li>\n <li>A J.D., preferably</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Benefits & Additional Information</h2>\n<p>Successful candidates will not only be provided with an outstanding career opportunity and welcoming environment, but will also be provided with a generous total compensation package with bonuses awarded in recognition of both individual and firm performance.
