Description Summary Seasonal Sanitation Crew Members complete the washdown, cleaning, and sanitizing of our harvest facility and food processing equipment. This is a physically active role that requires strong teamwork, communication, and hazard awareness skills. Training and coaching for this role is thorough to ensure the competence and safety of each crew member throughout harvest. Job Responsibilities Follow Good Manufacturing Practices to ensure product safety and personal hygiene. Comply with safety and PPE requirements for each task as directed by Lead or Supervisor. Safely use cleaning chemicals as trained, in accordance with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) Operate sweepers, foamers, scrubbers, ladders, pressure washers, pallet jacks, compressed air, and other sanitation equipment. Use water, foam, and air hoses in a safe, appropriate, and approved manner. Empty trash, cardboard, laundry and transport materials to a designated area. May be assigned to support facility operations during production hours by removing trash, recycling, and assisting in clean up and spill events. May be assigned to assist and relieve other processing employees as necessary inside the processing plant. Maintain punctuality, attendance, and performance throughout the season. Promptly report safety concerns or equipment problems to Lead or Supervisor. Work according to quality specifications set by Lead and Supervisor. Follow procedural steps when completing tasks. Attend and participate in all required training. Reporting Structure Reports to the Sanitation Supervisor and Sanitation Crew Leads. Minimum Qualifications 18 + years of age Ability to follow instructions, ask questions, and respect reporting structure Ability to receive feedback on quality of work Successful completion of (paid) training hours Working Conditions Manufacturing setting requires company-issued personal protective equipment (PPE) and break schedule compliance in accordance with established procedures. 50% or greater of each shift is performed in wet, cool, cold, and humid conditions inside the production plant near moving mechanical parts. 50% or greater of each shift includes exposure to cleaning chemicals and sanitizing agents. 50% or less of each shift may be performed outside during hot, warm, and humid exterior conditions with or without shade. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, you will be regularly required to: Use grip strength and dexterity of both hands and all fingers to roll hoses, put on PPE, adjust hose nozzles, scrub with brushes, and grip guardrails Walk between buildings in summer temperatures on asphalt and concrete surfaces Be prepared for exposure to an indoor, refrigerated processing environment Use correct ergonomics, as trained, when kneeling, crouching, reaching or picking up objects Ascend and descend ladders of different heights and types while wet and maintain three points of contact Manipulate medium-pressure hoses of various length, type and diameter for extended periods of time Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 45 pounds without assistance; including shoveling fruit waste from the floor, emptying bins into hoppers, and using water and foam hoses Specific vision abilities required (with or without correction) include close vision and adjusting focus to inspect cleanliness of equipment; distance and peripheral vision to ensure safety and teamwork. To communicate through phone and in person with the ability to perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels (with or without correction) Mental Demands Work is performed in a diverse and multilingual environment.
