Our mission is to lead the way to a more just and humane society; building power for all service workers by developing member leadership and activism, winning strong contracts, organizing unorganized service workers, building political and community power, and engaging in direct action that demonstrates our strength and determination to win. </span></span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">POSITION SUMMARY &amp; RESPONSIBILITIES:<span> </span></span>Working under the direction of the Bay Area Janitorial Division Coordinator, this individual will be part of the Bay Area Janitorial Division which represents janitorial members throughout the Bay Area, including contract enforcement and member engagement to make gains in the workplace and to address larger social/political issues in their communities.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Examples of Duties</span></em><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Organize workers, identify workplace issues and execute worksite actions.</li>\n<li>Participate in contract negotiations and coordinated campaigns.</li>\n<li>Planning, mobilization and turnout for worksite actions, union events, marches, etc.</li>\n<li>Conduct one-on-ones, site visits and member-led committee meetings.</li>\n<li>Identify, recruit, train and develop member leaders, stewards and member-led committees.</li>\n<li>Maintain database with accurate and detailed information on worksites, individual workers and assignments.</li>\n<li>Effectively communicate with members and employers to enforce contract &amp; resolve worksite disputes and issues.</li>\n<li>Prepare and manage workplans, calendars, files and records.</li>\n<li>Effectively communicate and engage members in union political program and activity.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS &amp; SKILLS:</span><span> </span>Graduation from an accredited college or university in relevant field or equivalent experience in labor &amp; community organizing that would provide for the following knowledge of, skills &amp; abilities.</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Proven commitment to social and economic justice and improving the lives of working people.</li>\n<li>Experience working on campaigns with a labor union, public policy, or non-profit organization.</li>\n<li>Knowledge of union organizing practice and principles.</li>\n<li>Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in fast-paced and diverse team environment.</li>\n<li>Ability to effectively plan and implement work and manage time, as part of a team and individually.</li>\n<li>Demonstrated ability to clearly convey information and ideas both verbally and in writing across audiences.</li>\n<li>Computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Gmail, social media platforms, database &amp; teleconferencing.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ability to travel in California, ability to work extended and irregular hours, and work off-site, if needed.</li>\n<li>Valid drivers’ license, use of a car for work, and specified automobile insurance coverage are mandatory.</li>\n<li>Bilingual English/Spanish (written &amp; verbal) is required.</li>\n<li>All employees are required to be fully vaccinated and report their vaccination status as a condition of employment.</li>\n<li>All employees must abide by USWW Safety Guidelines, including the required use of face covering while working.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">SALARY &amp; BENEFITS:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Salary is competitive and negotiable based on experience.
