Description This competition is open to all applicants however; internal candidates and applicants who were former employees of the University of Alberta in the past 18 months will be given priority consideration before external candidates. Please log in to verify your internal candidate status. This position has a term length of one year plus a day. Location - This role is in-person at North Campus, Edmonton. Position Summary The Research Assistant provides research support for Dr. Cheng’s research group in the form of model development, report writing, proofreading, research material collection, and reporting. Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, assists in the collection of qualitative and quantitative data Develops computer models. Writes reports Assists in the preparation and proofreading of publications, presentations, technical reports and briefings Attends research group meetings to remain up to date with the group’s research projects. Assists with lab work as needed Qualifications A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science is required; a Master's degree is preferred. Ability to develop computer models and simple evaluation of the results. Able to perform searches on databases, websites, etc., to support project activities, with experience in literature reviews. Prior experience with proofreading, annual reports or related academic writing is required. Prior experience in data collection and data entry is required. Intermediate level computer proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) is required Demonstrates strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
