    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<p>The Chief of Service (COS) provides oversight, leadership, and guidance for the University Volunteer Ambulance Corps (UVAC), a long-standing student-run service that responds to emergency calls on campus and elsewhere in the community. The COS ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to Emergency Medical Services (EMS), manages daily medical and financial operations, maintains licensure and protocol compliance, coordinates event schedules, mutual aid agreements, and the AED program, and serves as a role model and mentor to student leaders in support of UVAC’s mission to&nbsp;“provide the highest quality of care, both physical and emotional, to the University of Maine community.”&nbsp;</p><p>The Assistant Director of Operations&nbsp;supports emergency preparedness and fire safety operations for Auxiliary Enterprises’ departments: reviews and implements life safety plans and procedures, coordinates safety and emergency preparedness training for staff, and manages internal response procedures to emerging and active threats and for continuity of operations during weather, environmental, or infrastructure emergencies. The Assistant Director plays a key role in strategic organizational planning and department-wide emergency response initiatives as part of the Auxiliary Enterprises Leadership Team.&nbsp;</p><p>The Chief of Service/Assistant Director serves on the UMaine Emergency Operations Committee (EOC), representing UVAC and Auxiliaries to support campus-wide public safety and emergency response efforts.
