Background:
World Hope International (WHI) is a global Christian relief and development organization operating in 5 countries, including an affiliate World Hope entity in Canada. Job Purpose:
The Geologist Officer is responsible for conducting geological and hydrogeological assessments to support the identification, development, and sustainability of water resources and other natural resource interventions. The role involves site investigation, mapping, data analysis, and recommending suitable locations for drilling and infrastructure development, ensuring technical accuracy and environmental compliance. Additionally, the Geologist Officer contributes to project planning and implementation by providing expert guidance that supports safe, efficient, and sustainable resource management for community development programs
Major Responsibilities:
Siting of drilling location & analyzing geophysical survey (VES Resistivity 2D & 1D inversion) using Syscal Junior Iris Instrument Version 5.5, PQWT & using software to analyze data.
Supervision of borehole drilling through the recording of drilling penetration rates, logging/evaluating drill samples, taking & recording yield measurements, and designing of borehole.
Conduct borehole pumping tests for accurate yield measurements and aquifer characteristics.
4. To supervise the rehabilitation and construction of approved water and sanitation structures in strict adherence to the government regulations and the SPHERE standards.
5. To co-ordinate and network with the line ministry, Community Based Organizations and NGOs working in the respective target areas.
6. To create, mobilize and train local water committees in participatory construction and maintenance of community-based water and sanitation facilities to empower them to sustainably run the facilities and to maintain their own environment and health.
7. Ensure safe, efficient, and effective use of the organization’s assets and equipment under his/her custody always.
8. Maintaining WASH database and compiling WASH report.
9. Assist in writing narrative, quarterly and monthly report and submitting to government, donors, and WASH department.
10. Attending WASH related meetings.
11. Be flexible and adaptable in your work environment while directing your effort where it is mostly needed

Minimum Requirement
BSc Geology
Relevant experience as a geologist, assistant geophysics surveyor
At least 2 years of experience in geophysics and part of a drilling team.
Experience working in a cross-cultural setting
Able to coach, train and mentor others.
Skills in Microsoft suite applications (Word, SharePoint, Excel)
