The Cook provides meals to consumers residing in the Horizon Detox Unit, Crisis Stabilization Unit and the Recovery House.</p><p><strong><u>Required Education and Experience:</u></strong></p><ul><li>Knowledge, skills and abilities equivalent to that of a high school graduate are required.</li><li>An equivalent combination of training and personal experience that provides the needed knowledge, skills, and abilities is required.</li><li>Experience in institutional foodservice and menu planning is preferred.</li></ul><p><strong><u>Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:</u></strong></p><p>Knowledge of food preparation best practices, cooking techniques, and sanitation standards; Knowledge of the principles, procedures, techniques, trends, and literature related to food safety and compliance with VA&#39;s Health Department&#39;s regulations; Knowledge of daily dietary requirements for individuals in recovery to ensure every meal is healthy and nutritional; Skills to communicate effectively in order to facilitate excellent customer service; and available to work modified schedules (weekends, holiday, etc.) as required; Ability to drive and must possess a valid driver&#39;s license.
