Contracts are renewed by semester, dependent on performance and departmental needs. Compensation is based on highest degree earned.</p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong><u>Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities</u>:</strong></p>\r\n\r\n<p><em>(The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.)</em></p>\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li style=\"text-align:justify;\">Demonstrate and maintain current subject area knowledge.</li>\r\n\t<li style=\"text-align:justify;\">Provide clinical and/or lab instruction to students in accordance with program objectives.</li>\r\n\t<li style=\"text-align:justify;\">Supervise all care provided by students.</li>\r\n\t<li style=\"text-align:justify;\">Evaluate student competence as they provide various aspects of&#160; patient care including analyzing medical and dental histories, vitals assessments, extra/intraoral examinations, radiographs, assessment of oral habits &amp; conditions, restorative charting, CAMBRA periodontal assessment, gingival assessment, accretions assessment, and debridement procedures appropriate to patient.</li>\r\n\t<li style=\"text-align:justify;\">Supervise students during the administration of local anesthesia.</li>\r\n\t<li style=\"text-align:justify;\">Respond to emergency situations and implement appropriate emergency response procedures.</li>\r\n\t<li style=\"text-align:justify;\">Authorize medical clearance forms.</li>\r\n\t<li style=\"text-align:justify;\">Provide verbal and written feedback to students.</li>\r\n\t<li style=\"text-align:justify;\">Authorize medical and dental referral forms.</li>\r\n\t<li style=\"text-align:justify;\">Supervise treatment plans developed by students and approved by faculty.</li>\r\n\t<li style=\"text-align:justify;\">Maintain appropriate clinical records, including competency assessments, attendance&#160; records, notes from student meetings, and patient treatment notes.</li>\r\n\t<li style=\"text-align:justify;\">Conducts all work in a safe manner and all work safety practices are followed.</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n\r\n<p><strong><u>Other Functions</u></strong>:&#160;</p>\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li style=\"text-align:justify;\">Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.</li>\r\n\t<li style=\"text-align:justify;\">Continues professional development and training; keeps current with trends.</li>\r\n\t<li style=\"text-align:justify;\">Assists other department staff as needed to promote a team effort.</li>\r\n\t<li style=\"text-align:justify;\">Completes annual compliance requirements.</li>\r\n\t<li style=\"text-align:justify;\">Attends meetings as planned by the Program Director.</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n\r\n<p><strong><u>Knowledge, Ability and Skill</u>:</strong></p>\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li><span style=\"background-color:#FFFFFF;\">Demonstrated commitment to developing and fostering best practices and policies to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, and build an environment in which all members of the University community are treated with respect and dignity.</span></li>\r\n\t<li style=\"text-align:justify;\">Excellent organizational and communication skills.</li>\r\n\t<li style=\"text-align:justify;\">Knowledge of Commission on Dental Accreditation standards for Dental Hygiene</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n\r\n<p><strong><u>Minimum Required Qualifications</u>:</strong></p>\r\n\r\n<p><u>Education, Training and Experience</u>:.</p>\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li style=\"text-align:justify;\">Bachelor of Science degree in relevant discipline required</li>\r\n\t<li style=\"text-align:justify;\">Current CT RDH licensed or eligible for CT licensure</li>\r\n\t<li style=\"text-align:justify;\">Meets continuing education requirements for licensure</li>\r\n\t<li>Local Anesthesia Certificate (CT)</li>\r\n\t<li style=\"text-align:justify;\">Minimum of 2 years of dental hygiene clinical practice experience</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n\r\n<p><u>Special Requirements</u>:</p>\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li style=\"text-align:justify;\">Hep B Vaccine doc or decline (initial appointment)</li>\r\n\t<li style=\"text-align:justify;\">PPD testing</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n\r\n<p>&#160;</p>\r\n\r\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><em>(This job description does not constitute an employment agreement between The University of Bridgeport and employee.
