Primary Purpose This position is primarily focused on the development, delivery, and evaluation of doctoral-level pharmacology coursework for nurse anesthesia students within a rigorous graduate curriculum. The faculty member will collaborate closely with DNAP leadership and faculty to ensure course content aligns with program outcomes, accreditation standards, evidence-based practice, and contemporary anesthesia care. Essential Job Functions Develop, organize, and deliver graduate-level pharmacology curriculum for DNAP students in accordance with program objectives, accreditation standards, and university policies. Provide instruction in general pharmacology, anesthesia pharmacology, autonomic pharmacology, cardiovascular pharmacology, sedatives, analgesics, neuromuscular blockade, vasoactive medications, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and related pharmacotherapeutics relevant to anesthesia and perioperative patient care. Develop course materials including lectures, examinations, case studies, simulation integration, learning activities, and online educational resources. Evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback, remediation guidance, and academic support as needed. Maintain accurate course records and comply with university policies regarding grading, assessment, and instructional documentation. Participate in course evaluation, curriculum review, and continuous quality improvement efforts. Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary faculty, clinical educators, and program leadership to ensure integration of pharmacology content throughout the DNAP curriculum. Maintain current knowledge of advances in pharmacology, anesthesia therapeutics, healthcare education methodologies, and evidence-based practice. Participate in scholarly, professional development, or educational activities consistent with graduate healthcare education expectations. Participate in faculty meetings and academic activities as appropriate for the role. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of nurse anesthesia and anesthesiology principles, techniques, and advancements. Working knowledge of contemporary pharmacologic principles and their application to anesthesia practice, perioperative medicine, and advanced patient care. An understanding of the accreditation standards and requirements for nurse anesthesia programs. The ability to develop, deliver, and continuously improve curriculum. Strive in utilizing innovative teaching methods to enhance learning outcomes. Experience in supervising and mentoring students in diverse clinical settings. Engagement in research, publications, and presentations relevant to nurse anesthesia. Strive in participating in program evaluation and implementing improvement strategies. Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration. Ability to direct and manage components within the nurse anesthesia program. Outstanding communication abilities with a track record of collaborative work. Commitment to maintaining high professionalism and ethical behavior standards. Willingness to adapt to changes and commitment to continuous professional development. Outstanding communication abilities with a proven track record of collaborative work with colleagues, students, and healthcare professionals. Minimum Qualifications Terminal degree appropriate to the discipline and instructional responsibilities from an accredited institution. Acceptable degrees may include: PharmD; PhD in Pharmacology or related biomedical science; DNAP, DNP, or PhD in Nursing; MD or DO Other terminal degree with demonstrated expertise relevant to anesthesia pharmacology and graduate healthcare education Demonstrated expertise in pharmacology, anesthesia pharmacology, critical care pharmacotherapeutics, perioperative medication management, or advanced healthcare pharmacology. Preferred Qualifications Prior teaching experience within a CRNA, DNAP, medical, nursing, PA, or pharmacy program. Active involvement in professional organizations related to nurse anesthesia. Experience teaching graduate or doctoral-level healthcare, nursing, medical, pharmacy, anesthesia, or related biomedical science students. Experience in curriculum development, instructional design, simulation integration, or online learning platforms. Active involvement in professional organizations related to pharmacology, anesthesia, nursing, pharmacy, or healthcare education. Record of presentations, publications, curriculum development, scholarly engagement, or professional contributions in pharmacology, anesthesia, or healthcare education.
