Duties, Responsibilities & Other Job Summary : The Designer II (DT II) position is the second level in the Designer career track. This career track is tasked with providing designs for utility systems including but not limited to: Overhead and underground circuits for joint use, lighting, and commercial, industrial and residential development, gas and generation systems. This track is also responsible for field data collection and assists with storm restoration when requested. This role involves handling simple design projects and providing support to others for more complex projects with some independence. The DT II will have interactions with clients/customers and construction crews to progress their projects. This position primarily involves working in an office environment. There is an expectation of significant field work, which may include exposure to inclement weather conditions such as extreme heat/cold, high humidity, rain, snow and icy conditions. Key Technical Skills required: CAD Experience Power Distribution Expereince Pole Analysis software WMS experience (ex. Maximo) Basic Electrical Concepts Circuit Protection Growing NESC skillset Construction resource capability Time managemnet Field and workzone safety Field Safety Your key responsibilities include: Performing field data collection and project-specific inspections accurately and efficiently. Producing high-quality computer-aided design drawings and a list of materials needed for the construction of simple projects and providing support required by supervision for more complex tasks. Ensuring all necessary communications are documented on projects designed as required by training. Generating permitting and other supporting documents as needed. Providing guidance and training to other designers for simple tasks as requested. This role will strive to gain the necessary knowledge to work independently, but under supervision for mentorship, guidance and training. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent, and two years relevant work experience, or an Associate’s Degree – if less than one year relevant work experience . Valid driver’s license required.
