FULL-TIME DAYS (6a - 2:30p)
The Pharmacy Technician II assists in preparing, packaging, delivering and charging of medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
General Functions:
Accurately fills medication orders with correct strength, dosage form, and quantity in a timely manner. Assures all medications are checked by a pharmacist prior to dispensing. Responds appropriately to requests for STAT orders, routine orders, department requests and ADC stock out bulletins. Refills emergency crash carts, boxes and kits accurately and timely. Accurately stock ADCs in a timely manner. Prepackages and labels oral medications and extemporaneous preparations. Prepares IV sterile admixture solutions and IV products accurately consistent with IV policies and procedures. Restocks medications in IV room and conforms to IV cleaning schedule Performs distribution duties and adhere to pharmacy technician operational workflow and delivery schedule Interprets medication labels to compounds, prepares and maintains records of transactions. Prepares outpatient prescriptions for review by pharmacist Prepares unit dose tablets capsules and liquids, and surgical drugs and other specialty drug trays Assists the pharmacist with the dispensing of controlled substances to patient care areas and maintains records Maintain adequate medication stock levels and proper storage of medications Stock medications into pharmacy inventory Other duties as assigned Department/Business Unit Functions:
Performs and prepares IV admixture, chemotherapy and parental nutrition accurately consistent with IV policies and procedures (USP797 and USP800) Reports suspected adverse drug reactions and medication occurrences. Recommends improvement in pharmacy or facility processes that will decrease the potential for adverse outcomes. Follow proper process for handling of controlled substances and report any variances to Supervisor or pharmacist-in-charge, m) Ensure patient accounts are properly charged. Performs inspections of nursing unit floor stock and pharmacy stock to insure security, potency of medications and removes expired medications from stock. Assists the pharmacists in the provision of pharmaceutical care. Maintains formulary and cost savings by minimizing non-formulary procurements and utilizing courier services unless indicated for immediate patient care. Assists with report generation and information retrieval. Participates in and performs activities that support the medication use process. Interacts with nursing staff to facilitate pharmacy services. Maintains stock in automated dispensing units at adequate levels and performs inventory and ordering functions. Performs daily billing and charge functions as required, recognizing errors when they arise. Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively Maintains safe environment Address patient population-specific needs Participates in Performance Improvement activities Comply with state and federal regulatory requirements, Joint Commission standards and Tenet and hospital policies and procedures notify Pharmacist/Supervisor of any deviations from standards
Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION: High School Graduate or equivalent; accredited training in sterile products preparation.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Pharmacy experience
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Two years hospital experience
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE : Possession of current Texas State Board of Pharmacy Technician License; Pharmacy Technician Certification (depending on state regulations) required. IV Certification.

"InternalResponsibilitiesStr": "<p><strong>General Functions:</strong></p><ul><li><strong>Accurately fills medication orders with correct strength, dosage form, and quantity in a timely manner.</strong></li><li><strong>Assures all medications are checked by a pharmacist prior to dispensing.</strong></li><li><strong>Responds appropriately to requests for STAT orders, routine orders, department requests and ADC stock out bulletins.</strong></li><li><strong>Refills emergency crash carts, boxes and kits accurately and timely.</strong></li><li><strong>Accurately stock ADCs in a timely manner.</strong></li><li><strong>Prepackages and labels oral medications and extemporaneous preparations.</strong></li><li><strong>Prepares IV sterile admixture solutions and IV products accurately consistent with IV policies and procedures.</strong></li><li><strong>Restocks medications in IV room and conforms to IV cleaning schedule</strong></li><li><strong>Performs distribution duties and adhere to pharmacy technician operational workflow and delivery schedule</strong></li><li><strong>Interprets medication labels to compounds, prepares and maintains records of transactions.</strong></li><li><strong>Prepares outpatient prescriptions for review by pharmacist </strong></li><li><strong>Prepares unit dose tablets capsules and liquids, and surgical drugs and other specialty drug trays </strong></li><li><strong>Assists the pharmacist with the dispensing of controlled substances to patient care areas and maintains records </strong></li><li><strong>Maintain adequate medication stock levels and proper storage of medications</strong></li><li><strong>Stock medications into pharmacy inventory</strong></li><li><strong>Other duties as assigned</strong></li></ul><p><strong>Department/Business Unit Functions:</strong></p><ul><li><strong>Performs and prepares IV admixture, chemotherapy and parental nutrition accurately consistent with IV policies and procedures (USP797 and USP800)</strong></li><li><strong>Reports suspected adverse drug reactions and medication occurrences.</strong></li><li><strong>Recommends improvement in pharmacy or facility processes that will decrease the potential for adverse outcomes.</strong></li><li><strong>Follow proper process for handling of controlled substances and report any variances to Supervisor or pharmacist-in-charge, m)</strong></li><li><strong>Ensure patient accounts are properly charged.</strong></li><li><strong>Performs inspections of nursing unit floor stock and pharmacy stock to insure security, potency of medications and removes expired medications from stock.</strong></li><li><strong>Assists the pharmacists in the provision of pharmaceutical care.</strong></li><li><strong>Maintains formulary and cost savings by minimizing non-formulary procurements and utilizing courier services unless indicated for immediate patient care.</strong></li><li><strong>Assists with report generation and information retrieval. </strong></li><li><strong>Participates in and performs activities that support the medication use process. </strong></li><li><strong>Interacts with nursing staff to facilitate pharmacy services. </strong></li><li><strong>Maintains stock in automated dispensing units at adequate levels and performs inventory and ordering functions. </strong></li><li><strong>Performs daily billing and charge functions as required, recognizing errors when they arise. </strong></li><li><strong>Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively</strong></li><li><strong>Maintains safe environment</strong></li><li><strong>Address patient population-specific needs</strong></li><li><strong>Participates in Performance Improvement activities</strong></li><li><strong>Comply with state and federal regulatory requirements, Joint Commission standards and Tenet and hospital policies and procedures notify Pharmacist/Supervisor of any deviations from standards</strong></li></ul>",
