    "description": "<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">The Bowery Mission is a Christian, faith-based organization committed since the 1870s to serving people experiencing homelessness, hunger, and poverty. The Bowery Mission meets essential needs and creates transformative community with men, women, children, and families in New York so that we can together overcome homelessness and poverty and flourish. </span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Cook and present well-prepared meals for varying groups of The Bowery Mission. Maintain food handling best practices. Interact well with a variety of backgrounds, demonstrating the importance of each person and “loving people through food.” Requires both consistency and flexibility to deliver reliable services in the midst of factors that change daily. Sites vary in volume served, population, and schedule with consistent tasks and operations. May serve at multiple sites, as needed.</span></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-weight: bold\">Specific Responsibilities but are not limited to:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Prepare meals in accordance with planned menus.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Maintain a clean and sanitized work area.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Wear proper attire, i.e. uniforms, aprons, smocks, gloves, hairnets/hats, etc.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Monitor thermometers in freezer/refrigerator.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Check and put away incoming stock in proper storage areas,</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Control inventory, i.e. maintain, keep track of, and rotate stock, and discard outdated and damaged stock.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Participate in employee staff meetings and trainings.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Duties include reaching, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling and ability to lift up to 50 pounds.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Schedule:<span> </span></span>A routing schedule with one weekend off per month.
