Staff Software Engineer

Our Company Arch is a Series B financial technology company that automates the management of private investments, improving access, understanding, and the human experience of investing across asset classes. Private investments such as venture capital, hedge funds, and private equity, make up roughly 25% of the investment universe. Traditionally, investors, advisors, banks, families, and managers track hundreds of investments in complicated spreadsheets, file folders, and busy inboxes. Not only is this tedious and time-consuming, but it is rife with opportunity for manual data entry errors, inconsistent reporting, and lost information. Enter, Arch. Arch delivers standardized data, documents, and insights in a single platform, avoiding the need to chase information across dozens or hundreds of ‘portals’. Our purpose is to save investors’ time while empowering them to make more informed investment decisions, leading to better financial outcomes. We are a fast-growing, dynamic team of 200+, serving over 400 clients, including several of America’s largest banks, families, and financial institutions. We’ve over doubled the size of the company every year since inception and we are looking to hire in all departments as we scale. The Role As a Staff Software Engineer , you’ll serve as a technical leader and force multiplier across our engineering organization. This is a senior individual contributor role with outsized scope. You’ll own complex, high-impact systems, set technical direction, and elevate the engineers around you. Your work will shape the foundation of our platform and help Arch scale to meet the demands of a rapidly growing client base. Key responsibilities: Architect and drive complex, cross-functional technical initiatives from conception to production, with a focus on scalability and long-term maintainability. Set technical direction for core platform systems, making informed trade-offs to ensure performance, security, and reliability at scale. Partner with product, design, and data teams to define and deliver high-impact features end to end, influencing roadmap decisions with technical insight. Mentor and level up engineers across the team through code reviews, design discussions, and hands-on technical guidance. Identify and resolve systemic engineering challenges, including technical debt, infrastructure gaps, and cross-team bottlenecks that impact velocity. Reach out to us if you have: 8+ years of experience building and scaling web-based software products. A track record of owning and delivering complex technical projects with measurable cross-team impact. Deep expertise in full-stack development, distributed systems, or large-scale backend architecture. Experience influencing technical direction and driving alignment across teams without formal authority. Excellent communication skills — you can articulate complex technical concepts clearly to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders. Bonus Points if you have: Experience in the fintech space or building on investment platforms. Prior experience as a founding or early-stage engineer at a fast-growing startup. Background in building developer tooling, internal platforms, or infrastructure to improve engineering efficiency at scale. A Note about us: Most of our full-time roles are based onsite at our New York City office , where our team thrives on in-person collaboration and dynamic teamwork.
