Description
Provides clerical support for clinical and ancillary staff in delivering quality patient care. Creates In-Patient admissions as required. Discharges all patients verifying insurance and demographics.
Responsibilities
1. Registers patients in a timely manner (within 10 minutes) collecting and updating demographic and insurance information
2. Registers patients being admitted on computer system
3. Prepares appropriate identification band, lab requisition slips, labels and forms as needed
4. Begins Central Log entry for all patients registered; Completes the central log assuring all fields are complete
5. Completes Medicare Payor Questionnaire for all Medicare patients
6. Collects visit fees and insurance co-payments
7. Applies disposition and treatment code and discharge information in the Patient Registration log
8. Makes appropriate copies of complete chart and stores in dedicated locations
9. Disburses chart once reviewed for completeness
10. Updates and maintains On-Call Board and logs
11. Completes and processes DER/DOA packets
12. Logs and prepares all telegrams/mailing for Operations Manager
13. Calls appropriate transportation and support services as requested
14. Issues clinic appointments as noted on the patient charts and reviews with patient
15. Gives patients their prescription and discharge portion of the chart
16. Gives attending physician walk out charts for review twice daily
Qualifications
High School Graduate or GED
2 years of Ambulatory Care clerical experience or equivalent
