    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p><strong>ABOUT THE POSITION</strong></p>\n<p>Structural Bridge Engineer | Wethersfield, CT | Hybrid</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>VHB’s CT Structural Team has an opening for a Structural Bridge Engineer to join our established and growing team. You will be working on a wide variety of bridge projects in CT and New England using cutting edge tools to design and create digital models of bridges.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Learn more about our Structures practice at VHB: Bridges & Structures | VHB</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Perform structural modeling and design of highway, pedestrian and railroad bridges and other structures</li>\n <li>Create plans and digital models of the bridges and highway bridge approaches</li>\n <li>Perform bridge inspections</li>\n <li>Develop construction cost estimates</li>\n <li>Prepare contract documents</li>\n <li>Review fabrication drawings and provide construction plan reviews </li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Skills and Attributes </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Strong technical skills in bridge/structural design </li>\n <li>Experience developing design reports, plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates </li>\n <li>Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills</li>\n <li>Self-motivated and commitment to learning</li>\n <li>Excellent attention to detail </li>\n <li>Training and mentoring skills</li>\n <li>Effective and comfortable in a highly collaborative team environment  </li>\n <li>AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley OpenBridge, MicroStation v8 and Connect experience is a strong plus</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (structural emphasis preferred)</li>\n <li>Master's degree a plus</li>\n <li>5-8 years of professional structural/transportation/bridge design experience required (master’s degree may substitute for 1-2 years of experience)</li>\n <li>PE license required or expected to receive within 6 months.</li>\n</ul>\n<p></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Building what’s next, together.</strong></p>\n<p>Our people make the difference.
