    "description": "<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Job Posting: Auxiliary              Posting Type:</strong><strong> External  </strong></span><br><br><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0);\">The Brantford Police Service is accepting online applications for our Auxiliary Program. </span></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong><em> </em></strong></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong><em>Auxiliary Police Program</em></strong></span></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Our City's first Auxiliary Police Force was formed in 1962 when the Federal Government developed the Emergency Measures Organization which was mandated to deal with natural disasters and local emergency conditions. At that time, the Auxiliary was under the direction of Deputy Chief Les Butcher and Gerald Axworthy, the Emergency Measures Coordinator. Seventy-five men were accepted to undertake a 14-week training course.</span></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">The first commanding officer was Auxiliary Staff Sergeant Don Oxley. At this point training included map reading, rescue work, radiation detection and basic police skills. In 1965, the County of Brant Auxiliary Police E.M.O. was renamed, deleting E.M.O. from their official name. The name change took place in 1967 and the City of Brantford Auxiliary Police Force was brought under the direct responsibility of the City of Brantford Police Force. </span></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">The Auxiliary Police Section is a component of the Brantford Police Service under the Operations Branch, reporting to the Inspector in charge of Operations. </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong><em> </em></strong></span></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong><em>What the Auxiliary Program provides to the community </em></strong></span></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">The Brantford Auxiliary Police serve the City of Brantford by augmenting the strength of regular officers in the performance of their duties to the citizens of Brantford.</span></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">We assist with traffic and crowd control at major events held at various times throughout the year.</span></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Our members also assist the regular service at community-oriented events on a year-round basis.</span></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">The Auxiliary Police Section is on hand to assist in providing the staffing to coordinate search parties as well as emergency situations that may arise at any time.<strong><em> </em></strong></span></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong><em>Training</em></strong></span></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">An Auxiliary Police member is required to participate in a continuous training program which is normally conducted Monday evenings. This program consists of a minimum commitment of 100 hours per year and includes the following mandatory requirements:</span></p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Academic training</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Firearms training</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Defensive tactics</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Beats and Patrols (ride-along) - minimum of four hours per month</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">The Auxiliary Officer is also required to participate in three Special Duties per year.   </span></li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">There are no classes for the months of July and August; however, any Beat and Patrol time would be appreciated.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">These requirements are mandatory after a recruit orientation course is successfully completed.</span></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong><em>The minimum requirements for the position are as follows:</em></strong></span></p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Be a Canadian Citizen or permanent resident of Canada</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Be between 18 and 65 years of age</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Must produce satisfactory proof of having completed the requirements for the Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma, or equivalent.  Equivalency can be obtained through your local Board of Education.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Be a fully licensed driver and meet the requirements of the Graduated Licensing system in the province of Ontario, having accumulated no more than 6 demerit points</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Be physically able to perform the duties of the position, with regard to personal safety and the safety of the public</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0);
