DRIVER - PROPANE TANK SETTER
FULL TIME HOURS + COMPETITIVE BENEFIT PACKAGE
POSITION BASED OUT OF CHEBOYGAN, MICHIGAN

Role Responsibilities:
The Propane Tank Setter is responsible for the safe and efficient delivery, installations, and maintenance of residential and commercial customer’s propane tanks. This role requires the a strong commitment to safely operating a boom truck and installing equipment necessary to operate the tank, while complying with state and federal regulations standardizing the transport and delivery of hazardous materials.
Delivery and Installation
Load and secure tank specified for delivery
Plan route for each trip to minimize travel time and ensure safe road conditions.
Set tank, ensuring location has been prepped correctly.
Install copper conduit, gauges, relief valves and other necessary equipment. This may require entering the customer’s building to ensure proper installation.
Check valves and connections for any leaks.
Maintain Equipment
Complete daily pre and post trip inspections.
Perform maintenance as necessary.
Report any hazards in loading and unloading areas.
Keep assigned vehicle clean and well organized.
Record Keeping
Efficiently and accurately maintain daily manifests and trip logs, equipment logs, and sales logs.
Record all materials used for an install
Hazardous Materials
Report any spills immediately to the supervisor and Hazmat Emergency Response number.
Maintain require logs of any incidents.
Customer Service
Maintain open communication with supervisor regarding your schedule and any changes to the business needs.
Ensure satisfactory working relationships with customers.
Be aware of opportunities to increase sales or improve customer relations during your interactions and share with leadership as appropriate.
Knowledge and Experience Needed
High school diploma or GED
Successful completion of driver training certification from an accredited technical school or specialty driving program, combined with a minimum of six months experience operating comparable equipment.
Must be 21 years old, as required by DOT regulations, to legally haul hazardous materials.
Must possess and maintain a current, valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
Must possess required endorsements to operate a motor vehicle over 26,000 pound, including air brake, tanker and HAZMAT endorsements.
Possess state Class C training and certification for hazardous materials, complying with EPA and MDEQ regulations.
Be able to perform basic math skills and the ability to calculate and record rate, ratio and percentage data.
Demonstrate good communication skills and ability to interact with customers.
Must be able to work on uneven surfaces and ascend and descend a ladder safely.
