You’ll have the opportunity to oversee every phase, from conceptual planning to final design and construction support. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil and highway engineering, familiarity with DOT standards, and a passion for designing safe, efficient, and sustainable transportation systems. In addition to technical responsibilities, this role includes mentoring and supporting junior engineering staff, fostering a culture of learning and professional growth within the team.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Prepare and steer the design of highway and roadway projects, including geometric design, grading, drainage, traffic control, and pavement design</li><li>Develop and review engineering plans, specifications, and technical reports</li><li>Ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal transportation design standards (AASHTO, FHWA, ConnDOT/RIDOT/MassDOT guidelines)</li><li>Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including structural, traffic, environmental, and structural engineers</li><li>Provide technical support during project development, permitting, bidding, and construction phases</li><li>Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables under the guidance of a project manager</li><li>Track project milestones and assist in maintaining budgets and schedules</li><li>Coordinate with clients, agencies, and stakeholders; represent BETA while attending project meetings and public presentations</li><li>Assist with proposal development and business development initiatives as needed</li><li>Mentor junior staff and support quality assurance/quality control efforts</li></ul><p>Preferred location is BETA’s Worcester, MA office.
