We are seeking to add a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Transportation Project Engineer to join our growing team. As a Senior Transportation Project Engineer, you’ll play a key role in delivering complex, multidisciplinary infrastructure projects. You’ll have the opportunity to oversee every phase, from conceptual planning to final design and construction support. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil and highway engineering, familiarity with DOT standards, and a passion for designing safe, efficient, and sustainable transportation systems. In addition to technical responsibilities, this role includes mentoring and supporting junior engineering staff, fostering a culture of learning and professional growth within the team. Responsibilities: Prepare and steer the design of highway and roadway projects, including geometric design, grading, drainage, traffic control, and pavement design Develop and review engineering plans, specifications, and technical reports Ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal transportation design standards (AASHTO, FHWA, ConnDOT/RIDOT/MassDOT guidelines) Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including structural, traffic, environmental, and structural engineers Provide technical support during project development, permitting, bidding, and construction phases Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables under the guidance of a project manager Track project milestones and assist in maintaining budgets and schedules Coordinate with clients, agencies, and stakeholders; represent BETA while attending project meetings and public presentations Assist with proposal development and business development initiatives as needed Mentor junior staff and support quality assurance/quality control efforts Preferred location is BETA’s Worcester, MA office. Candidates should have flexibility to work from our other office locations. BETA also offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing employees to request working remotely up to 2 days per week.
