Job Summary: The Undergraduate Financial Aid Counselor’s primary responsibility is to provide financial aid counseling to current and prospective students in the Traditional Undergraduate programs. The Undergraduate Financial Aid Counselor will provide excellent customer service and support to the mission of the university.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide financial aid counseling to assigned students
Determine eligibility for financial assistance based on institutional, federal, and state policies and regulations
Prepare and notify students of financial aid awards based on awarding policies and procedures
Verification of selected students according to federal and institutional guidelines
Resolve C-codes and eligibility issues
Monitor satisfactory academic progress on assigned students
Ensure exit counseling is completed as required
Monitor corrections, revise awards and notify students as needed
Participate in university events including but not limited to registration events
Provide excellent customer service via phone, email, or in person.
Professional development through professional association meetings, webinars, and publications
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Qualifications/Skills Required:
Knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel software
Knowledge of MS Access helpful
Knowledge of SCT Banner systems very helpful
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to organize, prioritize and handle multiple responsibilities
Ability to adapt new policies to financial aid laws and regulations and new programs
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Degree in Business, Finance, or Counseling Preferred
One to three years of experience in financial aid or higher education
Physical Demands
Normal office working demands.
Work Environment
Friendly team oriented office
Some travel may be required
Can be very fast paced during peak times
Some evening work will be required along with a few Saturdays.
