Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department. You will work at University Hospital in Madison, WI.</p><p><strong><u>Pay:</u></strong></p><ul><li>Additional components of compensation may include:&nbsp;<ul><li>Evening and night shift differential</li></ul></li></ul><p><strong>Be part of something remarkable</strong></p><p>Join the #1 hospital in Wisconsin!</p><p>We are seeking a <strong>Pathology Grossing Technician</strong> to:</p><ul><li>Receive specimens and carefully check paperwork for accuracy and completeness, including appropriate documentation of medical necessity. &nbsp;</li><li>Perform routine, uncomplicated surgical dissection procedures on tissue samples. These specimens include core biopsies, small biopsies, bone marrows, curettings, gallbladder, appendix, fallopian tubes, placenta, etc.</li><li>Obtain biological specimens for specialized analysis (flow cytometry, image analysis, immunohistochemistry, etc.) and upon direction of the pathologist perform special procedures.&nbsp;</li><li>Prepare gross tissue sections for frozen section and electron and immunofluorescent microscopy.</li></ul><p><strong><u>At UW Health, you will have:</u></strong></p><ul><li>An excellent benefits package, including health and dental insurance, paid time off, retirement plans, two-week paid parental leave and adoption assistance.&nbsp;</li><li>Access to great resources through the UW Health Employee Wellbeing Department that supports your emotional, financial, and physical well-being.</li><li>Tuition benefits eligibility - UW Health invests in your professional growth by helping pay for coursework associated with career advancement.</li><li>The opportunity to earn a referral bonus for referring friends, former colleagues or others to apply for open, posted positions.</li></ul><p><strong><u>Qualifications</u></strong></p><ul><li>Bachelor's Degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology Required or</li><li>Bachelor's Degree must include minimally 60 semester hours or equivalent, that includes either:<ul><li>24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses OR</li><li>24 semester hours – 6 chemistry, 6 biology and 12 chemistry, biology, medical laboratory technology in any combination Required</li></ul></li></ul><p><strong><u>Work Experience</u></strong></p><ul><li>2 years laboratory experience Required</li><li>1 year experience performing gross dissection and dictation of surgical biopsy specimens Preferred</li></ul><p><strong><u>Licenses &amp; Certifications</u></strong></p><ul><li>Histotechnician / Histotechnologist (American Society for Clinical Pathology) or equivalent Preferred</li></ul><p><strong>Our Commitment to Social Impact and Belonging</strong><br>UW Health is committed to fostering a workplace that creates belonging for everyone and is an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) employer.
