About the Role:
The NDT Operator plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality and safety of products within the durable goods manufacturing industry. This position involves conducting non-destructive testing (NDT) to identify any defects or irregularities in materials and components without causing damage. The primary end result of this role is to provide accurate assessments that help maintain high standards of product integrity and compliance with industry regulations. By effectively identifying potential issues early in the manufacturing process, the NDT Operator contributes to reducing waste and enhancing overall operational efficiency. Ultimately, this role is vital for safeguarding both the company’s reputation and the safety of end-users of the products manufactured.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Certification in non-destructive testing methods (e.g., ASNT Level I or II). Proven experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in durable goods. Preferred Qualifications:
Associate's degree in a related field such as engineering or materials science. Experience with advanced NDT techniques and technologies. Familiarity with industry standards such as ASTM, ISO, or ASME. Responsibilities:
Conduct various non-destructive tests such as ultrasonic, radiographic, magnetic particle, and dye penetrant testing on materials and components. Interpret and analyze test results to determine the presence of defects or irregularities. Document findings and prepare detailed reports on testing procedures and results for review by engineering and quality assurance teams. Collaborate with production and engineering teams to ensure compliance with industry standards and specifications. Maintain and calibrate testing equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability in testing processes. Skills:
The required skills for this position include a strong understanding of non-destructive testing methods and the ability to operate specialized testing equipment. Attention to detail is essential, as the NDT Operator must accurately interpret test results and identify even the smallest defects. Effective communication skills are also important, as the operator will need to collaborate with various teams and present findings clearly. Preferred skills, such as familiarity with industry standards, enhance the operator's ability to ensure compliance and improve testing processes.
