Description POSITION SUMMARY: The YMCA of Greater Spartanburg is a vibrant and growing association committed to strengthening our community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Birthday Party Attendant and Head Birthday Party Attendant play essential roles in creating joyful, safe, and memorable experiences for families and children. These positions help foster lasting connections with the YMCA by ensuring high-quality service, maintaining safety standards, and promoting a welcoming environment. Under the supervision of the Aquatic Director, the Head Birthday Party Attendant serves as the primary liaison between the Aquatics Department and party renters. The head role includes administrative responsibilities, leadership of the party team, and direct support of YMCA policies and values. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Serve as the point of contact between the Aquatics Department and party renters. Maintain a calm, professional demeanor and promote a welcoming atmosphere. Enter all parties into the shared calendar and update available party dates. Call party renters weekly to answer questions and accommodate special requests. Schedule party attendants and communicate schedules to the front desk and directors. Operate and regulate water slide activities. Train new party attendants and ensure consistent service standards. Communicate needs, updates, and changes to the Aquatic Director. Respond to first aid situations as trained. Assist in finding substitute attendants when necessary. Collaborate with the Aquatic Director to develop and refine party rental policies and procedures. Step into the Birthday Party Attendant role when needed. Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the Aquatic Director. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum age: 18 years. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to relate effectively to children, parents, and coworkers. Prefer certified YMCA and/or American Red Cross Lifeguard with First Aid and CPR/AED. Leadership experience preferred. Commitment to the YMCA core values: caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Conflict resolution skills and ability to respond calmly and effectively in challenging situations. Required within 30 days of hire: Child Abuse Prevention, CPR, First Aid, AED training. WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must possess sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform essential duties in indoor and outdoor settings. Regular use of computers and digital communication tools. Frequent movement, sitting, and reaching within the work environment. Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Noise level is typically moderate. Work must not be performed outside of scheduled hours without prior written approval. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
