Description
Job Brief:
We are looking for a Senior .NET Developer to join our engineering team. You will work on Windows-native product development involving three distinct application types — WinForms desktop applications, headless .NET 8 background process executables, and WPF embedded UI components — depending on what each project requires.
VentureDive Overview:
Founded in 2012 by veteran technology entrepreneurs from MIT and Stanford, VentureDive is the fastest-growing technology company in the region that develops and invests in products and solutions that simplify and improve the lives of people worldwide. We aspire to create a technology organization and an entrepreneurial ecosystem in the region that is recognized as second to none in the world.
Key Responsibilities
Depending on the project you are assigned to, your work may include: WinForms desktop applications — building and maintaining Windows Forms applications that simulate or interact with third-party WinForms software at the UIA level Headless background executables — .NET 8 user-mode processes that attach to running third-party applications, maintain persistent cloud connections, execute automation logic, and manage their own update lifecycle silently WPF overlay components — single-window WPF overlays embedded within otherwise headless processes for contextual user interaction Windows UI Automation — attaching to running Windows processes, reading and driving UI elements programmatically via the UIA accessibility API Local encryption — AES-256-GCM encrypted file storage, Argon2id key derivation, HMAC integrity chains for tamper detection Persistent cloud-connected clients — WebSocket clients with JWT authentication, exponential backoff reconnect, and session state recovery Auto-update pipeline s — silent delta update agents using Velopack, Ed25519 signature verification, S3 release feed polling, and watchdog-based process health monitoring AI-assisted development — implementing from detailed technical specifications using Claude and Cursor, with strong engineering judgment applied to reviewing and hardening generated output
Required Skills 5+ years of professional .NET / C# development — strong command of modern C# including async/await, generics, LINQ, threading, and the .NET 8 runtime WinForms - experience building Windows Forms desktop applications. You understand control hierarchy, DataGridView virtualization, and how WinForms exposes controls to the Windows UIA accessibility layer Headless user-mode Windows executables — experience building background processes that run in the interactive desktop session at startup. You understand the difference between a Windows Service and a user-mode startup executable (interactive session, full UIA access), and you know why UIA automation requires the latter WPF — able to build always-on-top windows, transparent overlays, and custom controls in WPF/XAML. You do not need to be a WPF specialist but you cannot be afraid of it Windows API and system-level .NET — process attachment, HWND-based window management, Win32 hooks Socket communication or real-time communication — experience building persistent connection clients or servers in .NET Unit testing — writes tests as a matter of course, not as an afterthought. xUnit or NUnit experience expected Git — clean branching, meaningful commits, pull request workflow
Nice to Have Experience with Windows UI Automation (UIA) or accessibility APIs Familiarity with a uto-update frameworks (Velopack, Squirrel) Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor or GitHub Copilot AWS SDK experience (.NET client for S3, CloudWatch, SQS)
What we look for beyond required skills
In order to thrive at VentureDive, you
…are intellectually smart and curious
…have the passion for and take pride in your work
…deeply believe in VentureDive’s mission, vision, and values
…have a no-frills attitude
