    "requisitionDescription": "<p class=\"msonormal\" style=\"margin-bottom:0px;margin-bottom:0.00013333333333333334px;line-height:\nnormal\"><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"3\">Three Mile Island Camp (TMI) is looking for a Camp Manager <b><u>starting in the\nsummer of 2019</u></b>. The Camp Manager(s) is/are responsible for all operations of\nthe TMI Camp during the 10-week summer season, from mid-June to late August and\nhas administrative responsibilities during the rest of the year. The Camp Manager\nis hired by the TMI Committee with the approval of the Appalachian Mountain Club's (AMC's) Vice President of\nOperations and reports to the TMI Committee Chair. The Camp Manager will also\nbe in regular communication with AMC staff for issues including, but not\nlimited to, human resources, payroll and accounting. </font></p>\n\n<p class=\"msonormal\" style=\"margin-bottom:0px;margin-bottom:0.00013333333333333334px;line-height:\nnormal\"><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"3\"><br class=\"\">\nSpecifically, the Camp Manager will:<br><span style=\"text-indent: -18px;\"><br>- Serve as host for approximately 90 campers per\nweek, ensuring their safety, comfort and enjoyment.<br></span><span style=\"text-indent: -18px;\">- Hire senior staff members when necessary:\nAdministrator/Assistant Manager, Cook, Baker and Maintenance Manager.<br></span><span style=\"text-indent: -18px;\">- Recruit, supervise and mentor a 19 person Crew typically\nconsisting of employees ages 18-22.<br></span><span style=\"text-indent: -18px;\">- Oversee the finance, food service and maintenance\noperations of the island.<br></span><span style=\"text-indent: -18px;\">- Be responsible for the smooth operation of all\naspects of the camp.<br></span></font></p><div style=\"text-indent: -18px;\"><font face=\"Arial\" size=\"3\"><br>This position has sometimes been filled by two individuals operating as\nCo-Managers without an Assistant Manager, and the TMI Committee is open to\nother management team configurations.<br><span class=\"\" style=\"\"><br><b>Summer Season Responsibilities\n(mid-June to late August</b></span>):<br><br>- Manage overall operation of the island during\nthe 10-week summer season.<span class=\"\" style=\"\">&nbsp;<br></span>- Promote a positive camper experience without\ncreating a resort hotel environment. This includes the ability to create an\nenvironment in which campers can relax, recreate and commune with nature and\neach other.<span class=\"\" style=\"\">&nbsp;<br></span>- Provide daily supervision of and collaboration\nwith staff.<br>- Work with the Crew Boss on job assignments,\nstandards and performance.<br>- Oversee planning of menus with the Cook.<br>- Oversee upkeep of all facilities with the\nMaintenance Manager.<br>- Conduct evaluations of all staff members.<br>- Provide sound fiscal management of camp\noperations.<br>- Maintain the island tradition of simplicity and\nliving close to nature.<br>- Provide for the safety and comfort of campers.<br>- Keep accurate accounts, reports and records.&nbsp;<br><span class=\"\" style=\"\"><br><b>Off-Season/Pre-Season\nResponsibilities:<br></b></span><br>-&nbsp;Hire to fill vacant staff and Crew positions.<br>- Open camp with volunteers and Crew in early\nJune.<br>- Assist in closing camp at end of season in late\nSeptember (in conjunction with fall Committee meeting).<br>- Author an annual email newsletter.<br>- Participate in fall, winter and spring TMI\nCommittee meetings.<span class=\"\" style=\"\">&nbsp;<br></span>- Prepare Manager’s Report for fall Committee\nmeeting.<span class=\"\" style=\"\">&nbsp;<br></span>- Communicate with committee members, staff and Crew\nto prepare for the summer season<br><span class=\"\" style=\"\"><br><b>Reporting Structure:</b></span> The Camp\nManager reports to the TMI Committee Chair and manages all other staff\nincluding the Crew, Assistant Manager, Cook, Baker, Maintenance Manager,\nAdministrator, etc.<br><span class=\"\" style=\"\"><br><b>Qualifications:</b></span> The ideal\ncandidate(s) will possess the following skills and/or experience.<br><br>- Experience working with young adults in\npromoting a positive environment, including a strong work ethic and cooperative\nspirit.<br>- Commitment to a rewarding summer experience and\npersonal development for Crew and employees.<br>- Strong interpersonal skills and effective\ncommunication abilities.<span class=\"\" style=\"\">&nbsp;<br></span>- Excellent customer service skills.<br>- Solid management experience including personnel\nmanagement.<br>- Experience in financial operations.<span class=\"\" style=\"\">&nbsp;<br></span>- Organizational and problem-solving skills.<br>- Ability to interact effectively with and meet\nthe needs of campers.<br>- Experience with boats, building maintenance\nand/or food service is desirable.<br>- Experience and interest in making decisions with\nconsideration for environmental sustainability.<br>- Ability to set goals with and utilize the\nresources of a dedicated volunteer committee.<br>- Ability to drive/learn to drive boats and pass\nNew Hampshire Commercial Boat License test.<br><span class=\"\" style=\"\"><br><b>Job Benefits:<br></b></span><br>-&nbsp;Competitive salary<br>- Family lakeshore cabin with dock and porch,\nsuitable for a small family<br>- Beautiful location<br>- Rustic lifestyle<br>- Membership in the Appalachian Mountain Club<br>- Two days off per week<br><span class=\"\" style=\"\"><br><b>More about the Appalachian\nMountain Club and Three Mile Island Camp:</b></span> The Appalachian Mountain Club is\na non-profit organization whose mission is to “promote the protection,\nenjoyment and understanding of the mountains, forests, waters and trails of the\nAppalachian region.”<br><br>Three Mile Island Camp is a rustic retreat owned by the Appalachian\nMountain Club.
