Description

Overview The Network Engineer II will support moderately complex network infrastructures, ensuring reliable connectivity, system performance, and adherence to federal security and operational standards. This position requires a technically proficient professional capable of troubleshooting complex issues while working under general supervision. Background Ardent Eagle Solutions (AES) is seeking a Network Engineer II to support a Department of Commerce (DOC) program. This role is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and optimization of Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN) in a secure, mission-driven environment. Responsibilities Install, configure, and maintain LAN/WAN network infrastructure for program operations Monitor and manage network performance to ensure availability, reliability, and efficiency Evaluate and support network-related hardware and software , including: Routers, switches, and firewalls Telecommunications equipment Peripheral and output devices Enforce and support network security procedures and protocols in alignment with federal standards Install, configure, and maintain network software and systems Troubleshoot and resolve moderately complex network and connectivity issues Implement and support network policies, procedures, and standards Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of network services Provide technical guidance and training to end users and junior staff, as needed Document network configurations, processes, and troubleshooting steps Qualifications Approximately 2–4 years of experience in network engineering or a related IT field Experience supporting LAN/WAN environments , including networks of approximately 25 to 100 nodes Working knowledge of networking concepts, including: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP Routing and switching fundamentals Network security principles Experience troubleshooting network performance and connectivity issues Ability to apply standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the networking field Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently under general supervision while managing competing priorities Education Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree Certification(s) Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) CompTIA Network+ CompTIA Security+ Other relevant network engineering certifications Compensation The annual rate for this position is $95,000 - $135,000 per year. Compensation will be discussed in greater detail with candidates who advance in the interview process, allowing for a comprehensive evaluation of qualifications and alignment with role requirements. Compensation Disclaimer: The compensation range provided represents a general guideline. Final compensation will be determined at the Company’s discretion based on factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, education, internal equity, geographic location, and contract requirements. Location and Work Hours This position is 100% on-site and requires daily reporting to the following location: Herbert C. Hoover Building 1401 Constitution Avenue NW Washington, D.C. 20230 This role is not eligible for remote or telework arrangements. Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the worksite and be able to reliably report on-site as required. This position follows a standard 40-hour work week , Monday through Friday. Employees are expected to be available during core business hours of 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM ET , with additional working hours scheduled outside of core hours as needed to fulfill the full work schedule.
