Community engagement lies at the heart of our projects, driven by a genuine commitment to meaningful and inclusive participation and co-benefits, such as biodiversity conservation and socioeconomic upliftment. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>NatCarbon Africa seeks a Young Professional in the Land Enrolment Department for the large-scale Spekboom Restoration Project in the Eastern and Western Cape Provinces of South Africa.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>With our partner, Imperative Global, our aim is to restore up to 100,000 hectares of degraded subtropical thicket biome. The Project entails planting Spekboom (<em>Portulacaria afra</em>) on privately owned land to improve ecosystem functioning and agricultural productivity over time, promote biodiversity, improve soil filtration, enhance water storage capabilities, and to reduce soil erosion. The Project is estimated to permanently store large quantities of Carbon Dioxide over the Project life, thus positively contributing towards climate change mitigation.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Position Summary:</span> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Successful candidates will join our Land Negotiation Team for the Spekboom Restoration Project in South Africa’s Eastern and Western Cape provinces. In collaboration with Imperative Global, we aim to restore up to 100,000 hectares of degraded subtropical thicket through strategic spekboom (Portulacaria afra) planting, improving ecosystem functions, biodiversity, and agricultural productivity.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Roles and Responsibilities:</span> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Our project offers an unparalleled opportunity to learn about how nature-based carbon projects work alongside leading experts in the field. We are seeking exceptionally motivated candidates who are ready to engage deeply with topics such as:</p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Fence mapping and Assessments: </span>Assist in conducting fence mapping and assessments, analyse data in GIS program and convert, store and submit data in correct format.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Data Management and Analysis: </span>Store, manage, and conduct preliminary analyses of ecological, social and other scientific data, ensuring data accuracy, organisation, and accessibility for team use.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Reporting: </span>Provide regular reports on data collected, including initial analyses to inform project adjustments and further planning.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Draft Farm Management Plans:</span> Drafting management plans and maintain data for updates.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">General Administration: </span>Assisting with general administrative functions and assisting team members as required with day-to-day activities.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Meetings: </span>Help prepare for and participate in meetings with landowners, communities and traditional authorities.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Administrator:</span> work closely with the land enrolment administrator regarding land ownership data and documentation.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Land enrolment team members:</span> support senior team members to assist in ensuring professional results in all aspects of the land enrolment process.   </li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">General:</span> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n<li>Embrace a culture of continuous learning by adapting to evolving job responsibilities, driven by NatCarbon Africa’s commitment to innovation, personal growth, and shifting operational priorities </li>\n<li>Some travel within the Eastern and Western Cape may be required, including to remote locations, with occasional weekend or holiday work to accommodate schedules. Proficiency in using data entry tools and software, with experience in Excel or other data management tools. Knowledge of GIS is an advantage.</li>\n<li>Strong organisational skills for managing data accurately and maintaining clear records. Ability to handle scientific data systematically and contribute to its analysis.</li>\n<li>Good verbal and written communication skills.</li>\n<li>Flexibility and resourcefulness in adapting to changing field conditions, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.</li>\n<li>A collaborative attitude and willingness to support a multidisciplinary team in achieving project goals.</li>\n<li>Strong interest in environmental restoration, conservation, and social impact projects.</li>\n<li>Code B or C driver’s license is required, 4x4 driving experience will be advantageous.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Note</span>: This internship requires physical fitness, as it involves working outdoors for extended periods and in variable weather conditions. Basic understanding of Health and Safety.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Qualifications:</span> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n<li>Recent tertiary qualification in Conservation, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Ecology, Botany, Biology, Geology, or a related field.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Knowledge and Experience:</span> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n<li>Previous experience in fieldwork or outdoor data collection is preferred but not required.
