Description SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: To assist in overseeing the onsite operations of a Clayton Summer Adventure Camp location by supporting the Summer Adventure Camp Coordinator in the coordination and management of daily operations and programming. GENERAL DUTIES: Deliver daily programming to a small group of campers indoor and outdoors. Follow all policies and procedures while supervising assigned small group. Follow all health, safety and regulatory compliance rules and requirements. Communicate with campers and peers regularly. Engage in outdoor activities and are frequently in the sun. Attend and supervise small group on busses, fieldtrips and during special events. Request supplies from the Summer Camp Coordinator. Attend all assigned training sessions. Maintain positive relationships with campers and other camp staff. Report all accidents and incidents and any suspected or known child abuse, neglect or endangerment to authorities. Observe hazards or developments in the natural environment and alert appropriate staff. SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES: Self-Awareness: Ability to fully understand the impact emotions have on performance, assessment of strengths and weaknesses, relationships, and others. Demonstrates self-confidence, initiative, motivation, optimism and flexibility. Self-Management: Ability to manage behaviors, thoughts, and emotions in a conscious and productive way. Models the ability to implement self-control in assessing frustrations and failures and models resilience and courage. Understands personal responsibility in different aspects of life and work, and what is needed to fulfill that responsibility. PHYSICAL CONDITIONS: Requires daily standing, sitting, bending and stooping Requires normal range of hearing and vision Requires the ability to lift up to 40 pounds Requires the ability to physically move about the camp space and fieldtrip venues Requires the ability to be outdoors and in nature frequently, exposed to heat, dust, wind, insects, noxious plants, and snakes. Requires the ability to read text and information and comprehend instructions and manuals WORK ENVIRONMENT: Ability to work flexible schedules when necessary. Complete 20+ hours of paid training/professional development, occasionally out of the area ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. No or very limited exposure to physical risk Risk of exposure to childhood diseases Attendance at fieldtrips and waterparks with various environmental conditions, heat and weather. Involvement in specialized activities in an outdoor setting such as: water front activities, archery, horseback riding that requires technical skills, equipment, or safety regulations This position description does not list all the duties of the job. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: Good communication and interpersonal skills Good organization and time management skills Good written and verbal communication skills Normal degree of computer proficiency using Microsoft Office Maintain annual training requirements as mandated Obtain current CPR and First Aid certification, provided by Clayton Youth Enrichment Actively engage in professional and personal development Conduct oneself in a professional, ethical manner, in accordance with generally accepted community standards and organization’s employee policies Ability to complete childcare background check process and preservice requirements This position requires the ability to present yourself in a professional manner, communicate, and listen to others. *Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
