Job Title: Product Engineer I Job Summary: We are seeking a full-time Product Engineer who appreciates attention to detail, a versatile environment, and a broad list of product design projects. Gaining an exciting experience is something we can guarantee here. Your typical week includes product design, fabrication, dyno testing, SolidWorks 3D modeling, and 2D drafting. If modeling blown turbochargers on SolidWorks excites you, this may be your new home. Coming into the shop, you may be challenged with designing an air intake system, developing an oil cooler kit, dyno testing an intercooler, or fabricating an oil catch can bracket. Each of these projects is likely to be on different vehicles -- a BMW one week, perhaps a Miata the next. You'll work on a variety of vehicles and create ideal solutions for customers seeking upgraded components. You’ll report to the Product Engineering Manager. What You’ll Do : Design and prototype of new aftermarket automotive parts using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks). Perform product testing and validation activities (performance, durability, and fitment). Participate in design review and the engineering change process. Create detailed Engineering Reports to describe test procedures and results both within the company and externally to customers. Perform, document, and participate in consumer marketing content creation for the removal and installation of automotive components and systems. Participate in supplier evaluations, quality inspection, and corrective actions. Collaborate with the engineering team to support continuous improvement of our engineering and design processes. Better-designed products are a result of you and the team brainstorming ideas and then implementing the changes. Other duties as assigned. Your Creds: B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university, or related degree. 1 to 3 years of experience in Original Equipment Manufacturing, auto manufacturing, heat exchange, engine cooling, or air intake development. Basic knowledge of 3D-modeling software, 3D scanning, 3D printing, and their application to the design process. Basic knowledge in GD&T and 2D drawing creation. Basic knowledge of automotive components and systems. Understanding of fluid dynamics and thermodynamics. Understanding of manufacturing and quality control processes, material selection, and assembly methods. Hands-on experience working on vehicles. Hands-on experience with sheet metal fabrication tools. Timeliness and attention to detail are critical. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Extra Credit: Electromechanical design experience building custom machinery or test rigs. Bonus points for having a personal passion for auto products and the industry. You'll be able to take your consumer mindset and put it to work. Nobody knows what a car enthusiast wants in a product better than a car enthusiast. Experience conducting SolidWorks FEA and CFD analysis. You are Good At: Teamwork & Collaboration - you know your stuff, and you can engage with your colleagues in a positive, productive way. Innovative - Capable of coming up with unique ideas and solutions to design new products. Problem-Solving - Ability to break down complex problems, think critically, and devise creative solutions. Manufacturing issues happen. Your keen insight and troubleshooting will help Project Managers and Suppliers during the production process. Communication - Excellent written and verbal communication skills to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Adaptability - Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies, industry trends, and evolving user needs. Attention to Detail - A meticulous approach to detail to ensure accuracy of designs and to identify potential flaws in prototypes. Who You Are: Creating data analysis reports triggers the "engineering nerd" in you. You have an eye for cleanliness and organization (We keep a clean shop). You are eager to assist in the presentation of product discussions for social media video clips and installation videos. You're proud of your work, and you want to be able to share it with others. You approach product development with an uncompromising commitment to industry standards and OEM compatibility. Your goal is to deliver aftermarket parts that integrate seamlessly while offering real improvements. You believe in getting your hands dirty and spending time with actual vehicles and parts — not just CAD files — to ensure that what we engineer works in the real world, not just on paper. Aftermarket customers count on us for reliable upgrades and replacements. Your work is guided by rigorous testing and validation protocols that ensure every part we release performs in the harshest conditions. Physical Demands & Working Conditions: Role is on-site at Mishimoto’s Garnet Valley, PA facility. Requires flexibility, including hours availability to work outside a Monday–Friday 8:30 – 5:00 pm schedule as needed. Must be comfortable being on camera for product marketing content (less than 5%). Must be able to lift 50 lb. Must be capable of standing, maneuvering, and working on vehicles for up to 8 hours per day. Must be comfortable working in a garage and machine shop environment (Points will not be deducted for fingernail grease on interview day!). Light travel (less than 10%) may be required. Valid driver's license Ability to drive a manual transmission. Mishimoto is made up of people with many different backgrounds and lifestyles, and we like it that way. We invite applications from people of all stripes. We don't discriminate against employees or applicants based on gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, race, religion, age, national origin, citizenship, pregnancy status, veteran status, or any other differences that people imagine to discriminate against one another. Also, if you have a disability, please let us know if there's anything we can do to make the interview process better for you; we're happy to accommodate.
