Description Department of Neurology at Cedars-Sinai is looking for a Research Associate I talent to join Dr. Samuel Guzman's team. We invite you consider this rewarding opportunity and apply today! Dr. Samuel Guzman, MD is the Scientific Director of the Neuropathology Core Laboratory. Working under direct supervision, the Research Associate I will perform a variety of routine experimental protocols and procedures to support the objectives of one or more laboratory research projects in a specific area of research. Assists in general laboratory activities, including maintenance of reagents and stocking of supplies. Files and monitors documents. Keeps accurate and detailed records of experiments and results. Assists in the operation of specialized equipment and machinery. Observes and follows safety standards and procedures. The Research Assistant I will be able to perform routine cellular, micro- and molecular biology procedures including, but not limited to Western, Northern blot, DNA/RNA, PCR, protein extraction, cell culture, immunohistochemistry, and staining. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. NOTE: Evening and/or weekend availability may be required. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Performs a variety of laboratory tasks and procedures. May assist with animal husbandry. Maintains lab equipment and related records. Transports, processes and logs samples. Maintains computer database with relevant clinical information. Performs lab maintenance duties, including glassware cleaning and sterilization. Maintains stocks of general lab materials, and places orders for lab equipment and supplies. Assists new students and fellows at the laboratory. Department-Specific Duties and Responsibilities: Assists with human brain dissections and tissue freezing. Performs manual IHC and other staining procedures. Processes and prepares human tissue. Manages internal/external tissue requests and generate usage reports. Performs data entry, sample tracking, and QC documentation in REDCap. Contributes to workflow development and continuous process improvement. Conducts spatial transcriptomics workflows. Assists with microscopy, imaging, and data generation. Supports day-to-day lab operations and related projects. May assist with manuscripts or grant materials. Qualifications Education, Experience & Skills: Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences is required. Solid understanding of database management, personal computers, and presentation and imaging software. Understanding of general research objectives and experience with routine laboratory procedures and experimental protocols. Must possess digital literacy.
