Description
Student Activities Coordinator
Part-Time (0.6 FTE, 10-month) with Full-Time Growth Potential start date August 10, 2026
Did you love high school — the energy, the chaos, the moments that actually mattered? Now imagine getting to shape that experience for the next generation. Rochelle Zell Jewish High School, In Deerfield, is looking for an energetic, organized, and community-minded educator to lead our vibrant Student Activities program. This role sits at the intersection of school culture, student leadership, and community building — and it’s made for someone who loves working directly with teenagers and believes deeply in the value of life outside the classroom. This position has real room to grow: depending on your skills and interests, it can expand into a full-time role.
“Our mission is to create a culture of academic excellence that inspires and prepares our students to think critically, achieve their full potential, and live Judaism as responsible and involved citizens in the modern world.”
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Oversee 25+ student clubs end-to-end, including the Activities Fair, annual leadership transitions, and ongoing participation tracking
• Advise and support student government (Va’ad HaStudentim); train and coach student leaders each fall
• Coordinate signature school culture events: Spirit Week, Homecoming, Prom, and overnight Shabbatonim retreats
• Support Jewish holiday programming and help plan longer school trips; manage vendor relationships, logistics, and budgets
• Provide regular check-ins and ongoing wellness support for new, transfer, and assigned students as part of the Student Services team
• Participate in recruitment and enrollment events; support prospective student shadow days and the student ambassador program
• Contribute to school communications and social media
Reports to: Director of Jewish Life; works closely with the Director of Admissions & Recruitment and the Academic Dean
Faculty Values — Academic Excellence · Student-Centered Community · Jewish Identity · Critical Thinking · Respect for Individual Differences · Leadership Development · Lifelong Learning
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required
• Previous experience in both formal and informal educational settings
• Energetic, organized, and genuinely enthusiastic about working with high school students
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable managing logistics and budgets
• Passion for school culture, student leadership, and community building
Benefits
Joining Rochelle Zell means joining a highly professional faculty at a school that takes both its general and Jewish studies programs seriously — and that takes its people seriously too. Benefits include a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience. This position also carries meaningful growth potential: candidates with teaching, coaching, arts, or Tefillah backgrounds may have the opportunity to expand into a full-time role tailored to their strengths. Come build something great with us.
$33,000 - $40,000 for the 0.6 FTE Student Activities Coordinator Role, based on degree and experience.
