Summary of Essential Duties
The Aircraft Traveling Maintenance Technician provides mobile, on-site aircraft maintenance support across multiple stations and outstations to ensure operational continuity, regulatory compliance, and timely aircraft return to service. This role covers stations with limited staffing, supports temporary gaps, responds to on-the-road maintenance needs, and assists with new station startups.
Key Responsibilities
Provide primary or supplemental maintenance coverage
Support locations without permanently assigned technicians
Act as local maintenance authority.
Assist with new station launches and temporary staffing needs .
Perform line maintenance, drop-in maintenance, and AOG troubleshooting
Accomplish scheduled and unscheduled maintenance
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, avionics, and cabin discrepancies.
Coordinate with Maintenance Control
Communicate findings and timelines
Work with Parts and Logistics
Interface with approved vendors.
Document all maintenance actions
Ensure compliance with FARs and company manuals.
Promote safety culture
Identify hazards; Represent company professionally
Maintain tools and equipment.
Perform inspections and return-to-service actions.
Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
Physical Requirements
Frequent stooping, bending, and kneeling.
Ability to stand on feet for extended periods.
Lift and carry objects up to 70 pounds regularly, up to 100+ pounds occasionally (with assistance).
Ability to climb stairs, scaffolding, and/or ladders of varying heights without assistance.
Ability to work in cramped spaces and awkward positions as required.
Tolerance to noise, vibration, and outdoor weather conditions.
Ability to wear protective gear such as gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
Work Environment
Airport ramp/warehouse environment subject to varying weather conditions.
Regular exposure to aircraft noise and vibrations when testing engines.
Fast-paced operational setting requires attention to safety, accuracy, and timeliness.
Schedule Rotation
7 days on / 7 days off rotational schedule; On-duty periods may include extended shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays; Travel required throughout the on-duty rotation, including short-notice assignments; Off-duty rotation is protected unless tech signs up for overtime and wants to be called .
Qualifications
Must be at least 23 years of age.
A minimum of nine (9) months of prior airline or aviation industry experience is preferred.
FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification.
Ability to read and interpret FAA regulations, technical manuals, and maintenance documentation in English.
Minimum of 2 years’ aircraft maintenance experience (commercial, regional, or equivalent military experience accepted).
Strong organizational and troubleshooting skills
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and able to travel in and out of the country without restrictions.
Possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently; proficiency in Spanish is a plus but not required.
High school diploma or GED certification preferred.
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products, including Office 365, Excel, Outlook, and Word; familiarity with similar software applications is also required.
Ability to type a minimum of 30 words per minute.
Possess polished and professional interpersonal skills with a positive, customer-focused attitude.
Strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills.
Ability to effectively interact with a variety of personalities while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
Skilled in coordinating multiple priorities, managing deadlines, and working efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to handle interruptions and changing priorities with flexibility and a strong attention to detail.
Self-motivated with the ability to motivate others.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team-oriented environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, delivered with professionalism and tact.
Must pass a DOT-required pre-employment drug screening and be willing to submit to and pass FAA and Company-mandated random drug and alcohol testing.
Ability to pass a 10-year work history background check, as well as criminal history and fingerprint checks, as required by the TSA.
Ability to work flexible schedules, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and irregular shifts as operational needs dictate.
Must adhere to all safety regulations and work in a professional manner, complying with OSHA, EPA, state, and federal regulatory requirements.
