We design, build, and service equipment and steel plants across the globe with a strong technical services/machine shop network in North America.</p><p><strong>Summary</strong></p><p>Directs and coordinates activities of production department(s) in processing materials or manufacturing products in industrial organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.</p><p><strong>Duties and Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations.</li><li>Prepares operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.</li><li>Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.</li><li>Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.</li><li>Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.</li><li>Resolves worker grievances or submits unsettled grievances to the Operations Manager.</li><li>Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data.</li><li>Promotes safety initiatives and ensures safety policies are followed at all times.</li><li>Offers leadership regarding safety, quality, and productivity, offering guidance and direction to subordinates.</li><li>Maintains a strong shop floor presence to ensure policies and procedures are adhered to and serves as the primary point of contact for questions and concerns.</li><li>Conducts hazard assessments to identify opportunities for improvement</li></ul><p><strong>Supervisor Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Directly supervises 0-25 employees</li><li>Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization&#39;s policies and applicable laws.</li><li>Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.</li></ul><p><strong>Job Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>4-year college degree or equivalent experience</li><li>2+ years of overall professional experience in management / specific discipline</li><li>2+ years in a position of similar complexity, scope, size and impact.</li><li>Knowledge and experience in manufacturing gained at successive levels of responsibility in multiple areas of plant/factory/heavy industrial environment(s)</li><li>Knowledge of corporate policies and compliance</li><li>Demonstrated prior success in achieving results using team driven philosophies</li><li>Demonstrated proficiency in supporting corporate interest from remote site locations and ability to communicate and exercise very positive people skills.</li><li>Experience using GSS is a plus.</li></ul><p><strong>What we offer:</strong></p><ul><li>Competitive compensation</li><li>Medical/Dental/Vision coverage starting after 30 days</li><li>Paid vacation</li><li>10 paid holidays</li><li>401K with a company match</li><li>Paid uniforms, internal metatarsal boots and all other PPE</li><li>Training</li><li>Tuition reimbursement program and more!</li></ul><p><strong>Who we are:</strong></p><p>At SMS group, our people are our greatest asset.
