Are you ready to join a team that dreams as big as you do?</b></p><p style=\"text-align:inherit\"></p><p style=\"text-align:inherit\"></p><p>The <b>Key Purpose</b> of this role is to <span>drive sustainable sorghum production within the Dodoma region by supporting farmers to achieve optimal yields, quality, and supply targets aligned with the company’s sourcing mandate.</span></p><p></p><p></p><p><b>Key Roles and Responsibilities:</b><br /> </p><ul><li><p><span>Ensure timely mobilization, recruitment, and registration of sorghum farmers within the assigned region</span></p></li><li><p><span>Ensure that land preparation, planting, weeding, and harvesting activities are carried out on time and in accordance with recommended agronomic practices</span></p></li><li><p><span>Ensure soil fertility, moisture conservation, and crop rotation practices are implemented by farmers</span></p></li><li><p><span>Ensure that only certified sorghum seed supplied by TBL is planted at the correct seed rate</span></p></li><li><p><span>Identify and verify the acreage and corresponding input requirements for the area of operation</span></p></li><li><p><span>Ensure correct and timely application of herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides at recommended rates</span></p></li><li><p><span>Monitor the crop throughout the entire growth cycle and provide technical guidance</span></p></li><li><p><span>Identify any abnormalities such as pest infestations or disease outbreaks and advise farmers on appropriate corrective measures</span></p></li><li><p><span>Promote adoption of mechanization including the use of planters, threshers, and other relevant equipment</span></p></li><li><p><span>Disseminate new and improved farming technologies and best practices to farmers</span></p></li><li><p><span>Assist in the recovery of input costs advanced to farmers</span></p></li><li><p><span>Coach and support farmers to manage farming activities as profitable business enterprises</span></p></li><li><p><span>Maintain an accurate database of seed distribution, seed uptake, planted acreage, and crop yield</span></p></li><li><p><span>Prepare and submit timely monthly reports, including sustainability-related activities</span></p></li><li><p><span>Ensure timely mobilization, recruitment, and registration of sorghum farmers within the assigned region</span></p></li></ul><p></p><p></p><p><b>Key Attributes and Competencies:</b></p><p></p><ul><li><p>Supervisory Skills</p></li><li><p>Negotiation Skills</p></li><li><p>Interpersonal Skills</p></li><li><p>Decision Making and Advisory Skills</p></li><li><p>Strong Team player</p></li></ul><p></p><p></p><p><b>Minimum Requirements:</b></p><p></p><ul><li><p><span>Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Agronomy or related field</span></p></li><li><p><span>Minimum 2 years’ experience in an agronomy or extension environment</span></p></li><li><p><span>Experience working with smallholder and commercial farmers</span></p></li><li><p><span>Knowledge of sorghum production systems is an added advantage</span></p></li><li><p><span>Valid driver’s license</span></p></li><li><p><span>Fluency in English (Swahili is an added advantage)</span></p></li></ul><p></p><p></p><p><b>Additional Information:</b></p><p></p><ul><li><p><b>Band: IX</b></p></li></ul><p></p><p>ABInBev is an equal opportunity employer, and all appointments will be made in line with ABInBev employment equity plan and talent requirements.
