With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service.</p>\n<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>Joby Aviation is seeking an experienced Fabricator to join our subtractive prototyping team. This individual’s role is to make fixtures and jigs for testing, R&D and production using precision welding tables for fixturing while collaborating with engineers and other technicians through hands-on experience. You will be responsible for the entire process of job requests from review, to setup to welding the part. A willing attitude and team collaboration are very important for this position and go a long way when thinking through a variety of solutions to complete jobs on time due to the fast paced work environment. This position is hands-on experience, we aim to attract, retain, develop and motivate talent that possess the skills and leadership necessary to grow our team. </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Ability to shift between jobs when priorities change and communicating with co-workers.</li>\n <li>Willing to juggle multiple projects often sidelining some projects to expedite others.</li>\n <li>Operate MIG and TIG welding equipment.</li>\n <li>Proficient with use of common shop measuring tools.</li>\n <li>Operate drill presses, saws, grinders, and a variety of other manual tools and equipment.</li>\n <li>Operate manual mills and lathes.</li>\n <li>Operate CNC press brakes with manual controls.</li>\n <li>Print reading and GD&T callouts relevant to fabrication and welding.</li>\n <li>Collaborate with team members on how to best achieve end result and necessary tolerances.</li>\n <li>Demonstrates ability to document and communicate well within the team environment.</li>\n <li>Collaborate with engineers and designers, in person, by video call or phone, to provide solutions, feedback or alternative approaches to solve technical manufacturing problems with design and manufacturability in mind.</li>\n <li>Use of video conferencing and phone calls through systems such as Zoom or Teams.</li>\n <li>Use internal chat systems such as Slack.</li>\n <li>Adhere to shop procedures and safety standards at all times.</li>\n <li>Operate seated and walk behind Forklifts. Internal training provided.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Required</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>High School Diploma or GED equivalent.</li>\n <li>3+ years experience in any relevant industry such as aerospace, motorsports, start-ups, or manufacturing shops. </li>\n <li>Minimum of 6+ years welding ferrous and non-ferrous materials, utilizing both MIG and TIG.</li>\n <li>Experience welding in any position (1F through 4f, 1G through 6G).</li>\n <li>Experience in welding a wide range of materials from aluminum, stainless and mild steels in a wide range of thicknesses from .060” up to 1”+.</li>\n <li>Willingness to work 9 hour days plus extra overtime as needed.</li>\n <li>Willingness to listen to instructions, attention to detail, work with minimal supervision.</li>\n <li>Basic understanding of job workflows and ticketing systems that utilize Kanban, Sprint or other styles of ticketing workflows.</li>\n <li>Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unaided.</li>\n <li>Strong time-management skills including, how to prioritize multiple jobs, scheduling and best use of time.</li>\n <li>Ability to plan out step by step order of operations including, time estimates, sourcing materials, fixturing and setups, and post process needs.</li>\n <li>Understands basics of sheet metal bending and forming concepts.</li>\n <li>Familiarity with 5S, or similar workplace organization methods.</li>\n <li>Flexibility to work in a fast-growing environment with aggressive timelines.</li>\n <li>Willingness to train other team members.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Desired</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>ISO 9001 experience is a plus.</li>\n <li>Understanding of AWS D1.1 requirements.</li>\n <li>Laser Welding for sheet metal.</li>\n <li>Experience in welding Cryogenic components or welding exotic metals (Titanium, Chromoly, 321 Stainless Steel, 4140) a plus.</li>\n <li>Experience in sheet metal bending and forming, CNC press brake knowledge a plus.</li>\n <li>Forklift experience a plus.</li>\n <li>Jira ticketing or other Kanban related systems experience.</li>\n <li>Experience with Slack, Zoom, Teams and other relevant systems.</li>\n <li>Experience with CAD (Fusion 360, Solidworks, Catia or other).</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $46-$67/hr.
