ABOUT US Since 1954, CCI Ottawa has been dedicated to cultivating a vibrant and inclusive city where immigrants and refugees are supported, connected, and empowered. We are a full service settlement agency with multiple departments that offer a wide range of programs and services. Using a client-centred approach, we offer targeted case management. We do needs assessments, support with official documents and paperwork, information and orientation sessions, crisis counselling, housing assistance, translation, language classes, and help navigating public services such and agencies such as healthcare, the CRA, Service Ontario, and many others. In addition we offer programs that help newcomers become socially and economically connected, whether through sports, recreation, cultural activities, or job search and networking support. CCI also offers these services in a youth specific context. Finally, CCI Ottawa operates 4 Transitional Housing Sites. Each site provides shelter, food, and wrap around services to support clients as they move into permanent accommodations. POSITION SUMMARY The Housing Case Worker provides critical housing support to newcomers, including eviction prevention, tenant education, and advocacy. This role involves collaborating with landlords, housing providers, and community agencies to secure stable accommodations for clients, as well as supporting them through the housing search process and addressing any tenancy-related challenges. This position reports to: Program Manager Employment status: Contract – July 31, 2026 Hourly rate: $30.69 - $32.56 Deadline date to apply: 5PM, June 10, 2026 Open to: Internal/External candidates Address: 319 Rideau Street MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Housing Case Worker will: •Assist clients in identifying long-term, affordable housing options based on their needs and financial capacity. •Build and maintain relationships with landlords, housing providers, and community agencies to facilitate housing placements. •Guide clients through the rental application process, including lease agreements and understanding tenant responsibilities. •Support clients in preventing evictions through mediation, advocacy, and liaising with landlords. •Educate clients on their rights and responsibilities as tenants, ensuring they understand provincial and local tenancy laws. •Assist clients in resolving housing-related challenges, such as rent arrears or landlord disputes, to maintain their tenancy. •Provide comprehensive case management, conducting regular check-ins with clients to monitor their housing situation and provide ongoing support. •Address any issues that arise during tenancy, providing clients with additional resources and referrals when necessary. •Collaborate with social service agencies, landlords, and other community partners to ensure a holistic approach to housing support. •Engage in housing-related workshops and community forums to stay updated on local housing challenges and solutions. •Maintain accurate and detailed client files, including assessments, housing plans, and case notes. •Prepare regular reports on housing placements, eviction prevention efforts, and other client outcomes to inform program evaluation. •Perform all other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS •Post-secondary education in Social Work, Housing Services, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. •Minimum 2 years of experience in housing services or housing advocacy, preferably working with vulnerable populations. •Proven ability to navigate the housing market and find long-term housing solutions for clients. •Strong knowledge of tenant rights, eviction prevention strategies, and housing resources. •Experience in building and maintaining relationships with landlords, housing providers, and community agencies. •Excellent communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills. •Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple clients simultaneously. •Ability to work both independently and within a team environment. •Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other case management software. •Familiarity with tenancy laws and legal protections for tenants.
