All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or veteran status.</p>\n<h2>Duties, Responsibilities & Other</h2>\n<p>As a Senior Professional / Project Engineer at KCI, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of bridge engineering projects across both traditional (design-bid-build) and alternative delivery (design-build) methods. This role is responsible for overseeing technical execution, supporting project management efforts, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with client expectations, quality standards, schedules, and budgets. You will collaborate closely with Project Managers, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to develop practical, constructible solutions for complex bridge and transportation infrastructure projects.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<h3><strong>Project Management and Leadership</strong></h3>\n<ul>\n <li>Support the planning, development, coordination, and execution of bridge projects, including highway, rail, and pedestrian structures.</li>\n <li>Work alongside Project Managers to successfully deliver both design-bid-build and design-build projects, including accelerated schedules and contractor-driven environments.</li>\n <li>Lead technical tasks and coordinate with internal disciplines (geotechnical, hydraulics, traffic, environmental) and external partners.</li>\n <li>Supervise and mentor junior engineers and technical staff.</li>\n <li>Participate in project meetings with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.</li>\n <li>Assist in proposal development, technical write-ups, and client presentations, particularly for design-build pursuits.</li>\n <li>Provide constructability input and support staging, sequencing, and traffic control planning.</li>\n <li>Coordinate with subconsultants and contractors to ensure alignment across all project elements.</li>\n <li>Serve as a task manager or deputy PM on select projects.</li>\n</ul> \n<h3><strong>Training, Development, and Compliance</strong></h3>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Mentor and develop early-career engineers, supporting their technical growth and progression toward licensure.</p></li>\n <li><p>Ensure all work complies with applicable standards including <strong>AASHTO, DOT, FHWA</strong>, and project-specific requirements.</p></li>\n <li><p>Support QA/QC processes and adherence to KCI’s quality management systems.</p></li>\n <li><p>Participate in performance feedback and career development discussions.</p></li>\n <li><p>Engage in professional organizations (e.g., ASCE, ACEC) and industry events to strengthen client relationships and market presence.</p></li>\n <li><p>Assist in recruiting and attracting top bridge engineering talent.</p></li>\n</ul>\n<h3><strong>Financial Management and Reporting</strong></h3>\n<ul>\n <li>Support the Project Manager in managing project budgets, schedules, and resource allocations.</li>\n <li>Deliver work within scope, schedule, and budget while maintaining high-quality standards.</li>\n <li>Monitor task-level budgets and support forecasting for ongoing work.</li>\n <li>Assist with change orders, scope adjustments, and design-build cost tracking.</li>\n <li>Contribute to achieving utilization and performance targets.</li>\n</ul>\n<h3><strong>Project Execution and Technical Oversight</strong></h3>\n<ul>\n <li>Lead and perform structural design and analysis for bridges and related infrastructure (steel, concrete, prestressed, etc.).</li>\n <li>Develop design calculations, plans, specifications, and cost estimates in accordance with client and agency standards.</li>\n <li>Perform field reviews, site visits, and inspections to inform design and verify existing conditions.</li>\n <li>Review shop drawings, RFIs, and contractor submittals, particularly in design-build environments.</li>\n <li>Support construction-phase services, including responding to field issues and evaluating design modifications.</li>\n <li>Develop preliminary and final designs, including alternatives analysis and value engineering.</li>\n <li>Interpret and apply technical documents, plans, and specifications to ensure accurate execution.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Education and/or Work Experience Required:</strong> • Bachelor’s Degree in related field (AEC Industry) • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. • Proven experience in planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring engineering projects.• Proven experience in project management roles, with a track record of successful project delivery.• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, team members, and stakeholders.• Knowledge of industry standards and best practices related to construction management, quality assurance, and safety protocols.• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions in a fast-paced environment.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Education and/or Work Experience Preferred:</strong> • Master’s Degree</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Certificates, licenses, and/or Registrations Required:</strong>• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.)</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Pre-employment drug screening and background check are conditions of employment.
