Description
Job Summary Our Client, a Hospitality Company is seeking a dynamic and experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee maintenance tasks of various facilities and equipment. The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the overall upkeep, repair, and preventive maintenance of all lodges, camps, and associated infrastructure. The role requires a balance of technical expertise, operational efficiency, and aesthetic sensitivity, ensuring that all facilities meet the highest standards of luxury hospitality while maintaining harmony with the surrounding natural environment. The Maintenance Manager will oversee multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring that power, water, waste, and structural systems operate seamlessly, and that the lodges’ appearance reflects brand identity of excellence, sustainability, and elegance. Responsibilities; Oversee preventative and corrective maintenance of our structures , guest rooms, staff Accommodation , machinery, generators, water systems, and waste management facilities. Ensure the continuous operation of power systems (solar, generator, hybrid), boreholes, water reticulation, and hot water system Implement and monitor preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and reduce costs. Ensure all repairs and maintenance work meet high-end hospitality presentation standards (finishing, painting, landscaping, lighting). Maintain the visual harmony of the Camps and lodges by working closely with the Managers to ensure facilities blend seamlessly with natural surroundings. Supervise landscaping, pathways, signage, lighting, and exterior spaces to ensure they remain inviting, clean, and in line with the Lemala brand image. Conduct regular inspections of guest-facing areas to ensure every detail reflects a High end standard. Lead, train, and mentor the maintenance team to maintain high performance and professional standards. Instill an understanding of aesthetics and guest sensitivity within the maintenance team. Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and pride in maintaining high-end standards. Promote safety culture, ensuring compliance with TANAPA | NCAA|NEMA and Any other national regulatory authorities . Implement eco-friendly practices in energy, water, and waste management. Monitor and report on energy and water consumption; introduce efficiencies where possible. Ensure compliance with All environmental guidelines and brand conservation commitments across our operations . Develop annual maintenance budgets and manage expenditure responsibly. Track inventory of tools, spare parts, and materials to ensure timely availability. Provide regular reports to management on maintenance status, asset condition, and improvement plans. Contribute to planning and execution of capital projects, refurbishments, and upgrades. Requirements Diploma or degree or equivalent in relevant field. Possess in-depth knowledge of all mechanical systems, mechanical controls, critical systems, electrical and solar systems, plumbing/water systems and related systems. Minimum 5–7 years’ experience in maintenance management, preferably in East Africa High End Lodges. Proven ability to manage hybrid power systems, water treatment, and other critical infrastructure. Leadership experience with multi-skilled teams. Ability to manage budgets and schedules Must be ready and willing to travel to the bush were our camps and lodges are based on need be basis. Ability to build strong relationships with Managers, staff, vendors, and stakeholders Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate a team and resolve conflicts. High skills in computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office The ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Stable employment history that displays commitment & dedication. Strong technical problem-solving skills. Excellent planning, organizational, and project management abilities. Attention to detail with a high standard for quality and aesthetics. Strong leadership and people management skills. Financial acumen and ability to manage budgets. Commitment to sustainability and eco-conscious operations. Hands-on, proactive, and resourceful. Excellent mentorship skills, with the ability to coach and develop team members to reach their full potential. Guest-oriented mindset, understanding the link between maintenance and guest satisfaction. Adaptable and resilient in remote environments. High integrity, accountability, and professionalism. Collaborative and culturally sensitive.
