The instructor will be responsible for planning and delivering ESL curriculum. Along with the classroom hours, there will be a strong focus on using a learning management system and collaborative learning.</p><p><strong>Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Teach courses in Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced ESL up to 27.5 hours per week</li><li><p>Prepare and submit lesson plans prior to each course session</p></li><li><p>Grade and provide feedback on student work in a timely manner</p></li><li><p>Evaluate and monitor students&rsquo; progress the use of various assessment tools</p></li><li><p>Deliver engaging instruction through a variety of student-centered classroom activities</p></li><li><p>Maintain necessary records to report student academic progress (SAP) to the Academic Dean/Program Manager</p></li><li><p>Provide support through academic advising to ensure student growth and retention.</p></li><li><p>Attend and participate in quarterly instructor in-service meetings.</p></li><li><p>Stay well-informed with the trends and developments in ESL studies by attending professional development activities outside of CSI and completing a minimum of two professional growth activities annually</p></li><li><p>Organize and lead fieldtrips for student enrichment once per quarter.</p></li><li><p>Actively contribute to program improvement by proactively providing feedback and participating in various committees</p></li><li><p>Additional tasks as needed</p></li></ul><p><strong>Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Knowledge of pedagogical methods teaching ESL</li><li>Native or near-native ability to speak English</li></ul><p><strong>Education and Experience:&nbsp;</strong>The position requires a Bachelor&rsquo;s or Master&rsquo;s Degree in ESL/EFL, TESOL, Applied Linguistics or Linguistics (or related field). At least two years of prior teaching experience to adult learners preferred.</p><p data-pasted=\"true\">If the Bachelor&rsquo;s or Master&rsquo;s Degree is not in ESL/EFL, TESOL, Applied Linguistics or Linguistics (or related field), language teaching faculty must have a specific knowledge base and skill set that includes the following:</p><ul><li>Language teaching methodology</li><li>The nature of language/languages (e.g., introduction to linguistics)</li><li>The structure of English ( e.g., syntax, phonology, morphology, discourse)</li><li>Second language acquisition</li><li>Intercultural communication ( e.g., sociolinguistics, cross-cultural studies)</li><li>Practicum experience</li></ul><p><strong>Physical Requirements:&nbsp;</strong>While performing the duties of this job, the instructor is regularly required to stand; walk and sit. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.</p><p><strong>Work Environment:&nbsp;</strong>Normal office working conditions.
