    "description": "<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Glenlyon Norfolk School (GNS) is an independent JK to Grade 12 International Baccalaureate (IB) and Round Square day and boarding school located on two campuses in Victoria, BC, Canada. Gryphon Manor will serve as our second boarding house, joining Gryphon House, and expanding our capacity to provide a personalized residential experience. Our boarding program is intentionally small by design. Students are known, supported, and challenged within a close-knit community grounded in belonging, character development, and global citizenship. Working under the direction of the House Director and Senior House Parent, the House Parent supports the delivery of a high-quality boarding experience that integrates pastoral care, residential life, academic support, and student wellbeing. This role is vital in creating a safe, structured, and nurturing residential environment grounded in GNS’s values of Truth, Courage, Caring, Individuality, and Community. Through consistent presence, strong relationships, and clear expectations, the House Parent supports students’ social, emotional, and personal development, enabling them to thrive within the boarding community. You are a confident relationship builder with strong intercultural competence, sound judgment, and the ability to balance structure and accountability with warmth. You foster belonging while maintaining professional boundaries, communicate clearly and collaboratively, and remain calm and decisive in complex situations. Experience in boarding, residential life, youth mentorship, education, counselling, athletics, or community leadership will be viewed as a strong asset. Current First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain) and a clear Criminal Record Check are required. A valid Class 5 driver’s license is also necessary.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; text-decoration: underline\">Our “Must Haves”</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">You demonstrate integrity, discretion, and professionalism in all interactions and serve as a consistent, positive adult presence within the boarding house. Highly organized and dependable, you exercise sound independent judgment while working within established policies, routines, and expectations. You always put relationships first and approach conflict or behavioural concerns with calmness, fairness, and good judgment. You are committed to student safety, wellbeing, and inclusive community standards. You have a natural ability to connect with others, be tactful and diplomatic in your approach, and ultimately help our students do their best through truth and courage.  House Parents must be able to meet the scheduling demands of residential life, including evenings, weekends, overnights, and on-call responsibilities. </span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; text-decoration: underline\">Compensation and Accommodation</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Compensation includes accommodation and optional meals during the academic year, both provided as a taxable benefit. In addition, House Parents receive an annual stipend starting at $7,500, with scheduled increases in subsequent years of service in accordance with the school’s boarding compensation grid.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Accommodation options include a self-contained one-bedroom apartment of approximately 400 square feet, best suited for an individual, or a larger one-bedroom apartment of approximately 1,150 square feet, ideally suited to a couple who are interested in serving jointly as House Parents.  </span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Interested candidates should submit a resume and cover letter indicating personal strengths and accomplishments </span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">by Thursday, April 30, 2026.
