As our enrollment continues to grow during the year, there is no way to forecast when a position will open up, which is why there are no set number of open positions listed, nor is such information given out.
ABOUT THE CALIFORNIA VIRTUAL ACADEMIES
The California Virtual Academies (a network of 9 public charter schools) delivers online/virtual home based instruction to students in grades TK-12 in California. While our schools do offer some scheduling flexibility, students are required to complete approximately 4-6 hours of coursework daily, complete all assignments, and attend required live instructional sessions. K12, inc. is our curriculum provider.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS :
• Weekly basis: typically drive 20-40 miles one way, may drive up to 75 miles one way as needed.
• 1-2 times a month: may drive 2-3 hours one way
• A few times a year, fly to a location in CA
HOURS AND SALARY INFORMATION:
Full Time: Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:00pm. You are not allowed to have another job during these contracted hours.
Full Time School Psychologists: Annual salary based on holding a Bachelors or Masters Degree and up to 3 years of experience in California
We do participate in CalSTRS. Please contact your CalSTRS counselor about how employment with any of the California Virtual Academies may affect your personal STRS account. Only full time employees are offered health, dental, and vision benefits. Benefits information is only given out upon offer. We do provide training for all programs and we have a great staff to serve as your support system.

Overview:
Virtual schools are new models in public education. They look both backward to what we know works well in educating children, and forward to see how technology can help us implement these strategies with children. Virtual school teachers are part of a pioneering effort. Our staff, therefore, need to share the school’s pioneering mission and approach.
Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Director of Student Support Services, the School Psychologist serves as a consultant to the school community with regard to understanding and treating learning and behavior problems and recommends appropriate remediation for exceptional children. The psychologist studies and assists pupils using various techniques including but not limited to conferencing, observation, psycho-educational assessments, and counseling
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prevention and Intervention
• Consults with school student support service teams concerning appropriate learning strategies and possible modifications and interventions to accommodate differences in learning styles.
• Observes students as needed to assess educational settings and assist school staff with developing optimal learning environments
• Develops behavior management and classroom management interventions and plans
• Consults with parents regarding the development of learning and behavior interventions for students including recommendations for home support of school goals
• Counsels students identified through the SST/CST/SAP/IEP process.
• Monitors the implementation of interventions and evaluates student success
• Provides professional development for staff and parents at school sites on educational disabilities, appropriate referrals, behavioral interventions, and instructional modifications
• Collaborates with other student support professionals to support student progress
• Communicates and provides timely follow-up with staff and families regarding referrals
• Travels throughout the state of California to complete assessments and provide services as needed
Assessment
• Conducts psycho-educational assessments or file reviews in accordance with District, State, and Federal requirements
• Utilizes assessment tools with a variety of techniques that are functional and based on the reason for referral. (e.g., standardized, curriculum-based, portfolio, and authentic assessments in accordance with child find laws)
• Conducts assessments that address behavioral interventions, assists teachers in designing behavior plans including functional behavior assessments, and manifestation determinations
• Completes all assessments within the mandated IDEA timelines
• Presents a comprehensive report about assessment results at the subsequent Individualized Educational Program (IEP) team meeting
• Makes recommendations to the IEP team based on the findings of each assessment and specific to the identified disability as it relates to the core curriculum and the District’s Content and Performance Standards
• Other duties as assigned
Requirements/Experience:
• Reside in the state of California
• Master's degree
• Strong content and subject-matter knowledge
• Ability to support and guide adults, as well as students
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Organization and time-management skills
• Excellent writing and grammar skills
• Flexible schedule
• Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and Outlook, PowerPoint and experience using them in a professional capacity
• Have a strong understanding of the assessment tools used
• Previous experience as a School Psychologist
• Travel Required
• Approximately 20-40 miles one way to complete assessments on a weekly basis, possibly up to 75 miles one way as needed.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; and experience using a student information system and/or other type of database software. Experience moderating web meetings (Blackboard Collaborate, Webinar, Webex) for small and large groups.

The psychologist studies and assists pupils using various techniques including but not limited to conferencing, observation, psycho-educational assessments, and counseling</span><br><br><span style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\"><strong><u>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</u></strong></span><u><br></u><br><span style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\"><strong>Prevention and Intervention</strong></span><strong><br></strong><span style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">• Consults with school student support service teams concerning appropriate learning strategies and possible modifications and interventions to accommodate differences in learning styles.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">• Observes students as needed to assess educational settings and assist school staff with developing optimal learning environments</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">• Develops behavior management and classroom management interventions and plans</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">• Consults with parents regarding the development of learning and behavior interventions for students including recommendations for home support of school goals</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">• Counsels students identified through the SST/CST/SAP/IEP process.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">• Monitors the implementation of interventions and evaluates student success</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">• Provides professional development for staff and parents at school sites on educational disabilities, appropriate referrals, behavioral interventions, and instructional modifications</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">• Collaborates with other student support professionals to support student progress</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">• Communicates and provides timely follow-up with staff and families regarding referrals</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">• Travels throughout the state of California to complete assessments and provide services as needed</span><br><br><span style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\"><strong>Assessment</strong></span><br><span style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">• Conducts psycho-educational assessments or file reviews in accordance with District, State, and Federal requirements</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">• Utilizes assessment tools with a variety of techniques that are functional and based on the reason for referral. (e.g., standardized, curriculum-based, portfolio, and authentic assessments in accordance with child find laws)</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">• Conducts assessments that address behavioral interventions, assists teachers in designing behavior plans including functional behavior assessments, and manifestation determinations</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">• Completes all assessments within the mandated IDEA timelines</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">• Presents a comprehensive report about assessment results at the subsequent Individualized Educational Program (IEP) team meeting</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">• Makes recommendations to the IEP team based on the findings of each assessment and specific to the identified disability as it relates to the core curriculum and the District’s Content and Performance Standards</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">• Approximately 20-40 miles one way to complete assessments on a weekly basis, possibly up to 75 miles one way as needed.</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 14px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">•Approximately drive 2-3 hours away to conduct an assessment a few times a month</span><br><span style=\"font-size: 14px;
