    "description": "<p><span>This is a unique opportunity to work in a distinctive setting, contributing to the preservation of New Zealand’s tram heritage. </span><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span>MOTAT </span></span><span>is looking for a someone with a mechanical and engineering background to join the Tramways Heritage team. Based in the workshop, you’ll work within a small team with volunteers to keeping MOTAT’s trams operational all year round. Your hands-on mechanical experience will be used when servicing and maintaining trams, while experience in fitting, turning, milling, and welding are essential for manufacturing tram parts.</span><span> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><br></span><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span>To be successful in this role, you will need:</span></span><span> </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>An understanding of heavy engineering with an aptitude for carrying out mechanical work with a relevant trade qualification.</span><span> </span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Experience operating a range of workshop machinery.</span><span> </span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Demonstrated ability to plan work, manage budgets and coordinate others.</span><span> </span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Basic computer literacy.</span><span> </span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Full driver’s licence, forklift licence desirable, but not a deal breaker.</span><span> </span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Experience in doing body and panel work, painting, and woodwork would be an advantage.</span><span> </span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Most of our trams are run on DC power, so some electrical experience would be beneficial.</span><span> </span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span>An interest in tram heritage artefacts/museums would be beneficial.</span><span> </span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span>This role is a 40-hour working week, working Monday to Friday.
